Mercedes-Benz × Mario Kart 8 is one of three downloadable content packs available for Mario Kart 8, the others being The Legend of Zelda × Mario Kart 8 and Animal Crossing × Mario Kart 8. It was released on August 27, 2014.[1][dead link] Unlike the other two downloadable content packs, this pack can be downloaded for free. The kart pieces are part of the base content of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with each part requiring Coins to be unlocked. This was created as part of a cross-promotion between Nintendo and Mercedes-Benz for Mario Kart 8 and the GLA in Japan.[2]
