World 2-1 (Chapter 2-1 in Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic; titled A Desert Expedition[1] or Enter the World of Deserts![2]) is the first level of World 2 in Super Mario Bros. 2.
In Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, completing the first section of this level as Toad is the goal of the Hard-difficulty challenge Desert Dash.
Layout[edit]
This level is divided into two segments. In the first, the chosen character has to walk through the desert as they avoid traps like quicksand and enemies like Cobrats, Shyguys and a Panser. There are also two jars and a Magic Potion. In both jars, there is a Snifit and a Red Shell. In the pyramid, the character has to dig through soft sand until reaching the bottom while avoiding Shyguys and Snifits. Pink Birdo is fought in a chamber full of chasms.
