The last player blows into the balloon and runs behind the barrier as the first player steps up to take a turn.

The players must say "Bigger" into the [[Nintendo GameCube#Nintendo GameCube Microphone|Mic]] in order to inflate the balloon or "Stop" to end the turn. If the game is played without a Mic, they can use the {{button|gcn|R}} button to open a menu for two options: "Bigger" to inflate the balloon or "Stop" to end the turn. Players can inflate the balloon up to five times per turn, and they must put in at least one breath before they can choose to stop. If the timer runs out during a player's turn, they automatically blow into the balloon the maximum number of times. When the balloon gets near bursting, the players begin to cringe, and the character who blows in runs much faster when their turn is over. The last player to inflate the balloon without bursting it wins.
The players must say "Bigger" into the microphone in order to inflate it. If a player isn't using the microphone, then he/she must press {{button|gcn|R}} and choose either "Bigger" or "Stop" to either inflate the balloon or stop their turn.

In ''Mario Party: The Top 100'', there are three rounds, and only one player is knocked out each round. The controls are different as well—instead of saying "Bigger," the player blows on the 3DS mic or presses {{button|3ds|L}}, and they can press {{button|3ds|B}} to stop. Popping the balloon ends that round, and the player that burst it is eliminated. Another (bigger) balloon inflates, starting a new round, until the last player remaining wins.
They can do this up to five times per turn, however they can stop blowing after they've put in at least one breath. If the timer runs out, then the player automatically blows into the balloon as many times as they have remaining. When the balloon gets near bursting, the players will begin to cringe and the character who blows in will run much faster when their turn is over. The winner is the player who had their turn directly before the turn when the balloon burst.

In case of ''Mario Party: The Top 100'', there are 3 rounds, and only one player is knocked out each round. The controls are different - instead of saying "Bigger", one blows on it; instead of saying "Stop", {{button|3ds|B}} is pressed. When the balloon bursts, the round is over, the player taking their turn is out, and another balloon inflates, starting a new round. The minigame ends once one player remains; that player is the winner.

The balloon explodes, sending the losers flying offscreen. The winner does their victory animation.
In ''Mario Party 7'', the balloon explodes, sending the losing players flying offscreen and leaving the winning player to do their winning animation.
