A '''Cherbil''' is a floating enemy found in ''[[Super Paper Mario]]''. Apparently, they are based off a pair of buttocks. They are one of the more common enemy species in the game, appearing in various locations such as [[Yold Desert]], the [[Gap of Crag]] or the [[Flipside Pit of 100 Trials]] in room 6. They have the ability to put the player to [[sleep]] by spewing pink gas at them.

Cherbils and their cousins could be named after the city of [[wikipedia:Chernobyl|Chernobyl, Ukraine]], the site of a nuclear disaster in the 1980s that caused noxious radioactive clouds to hang over the city for months. Their names can also be derived from gerbil, a small rodent.
