Syntax
|title= By default, this is not necessary, as it will automatically use the article title sans identifier. For special cases, it can be manually specified.
|image= A representative image of the subject - ideally, artwork from the most recently released game. However, if the latest artwork is specialized for that game (e.g. the subject is wearing sporting gear, driving a kart, etc.), an older image may be retained as the infobox image instead.
Unposed models (commonly referred to as T-pose or A-pose models) are not allowed in the infobox.[Proposal 1]
|full_name= The species' full name (for example, "Dangerous Duck" is the full name of the D.D. species). Only use this parameter if the full name is not the same as the title already used for the article or infobox (for example, do not list Goomba's full name as "Goomba," as it is redundant).
|first_appearance= The first game, book, cartoon episode, comic issue, movie, etc. that the species has appeared in.
For species who first appeared in mangas, the manga's chapter should be listed alongside the title (e.g. Super Mario Kodansha manga ("Star Road to Bowser's Castle")). If the exact chapter is unknown, the volume may be used instead.[Proposal 2]
|latest_appearance= The latest game (etc) that the species has appeared in. This does not include upcoming games: the game must have been released before the infobox can be updated.[Proposal 3]
Like the first appearance, the chapter or volume should be listed alongside manga titles when applicable.[Proposal 2]
|latest_portrayal= Who voiced (or otherwise portrayed) the species in the most recently released game (etc). Archival audio from previous games does not count for this field.[Proposal 4]
|portrayed_by= If only one person has portrayed the species, use this instead of "latest_portrayal".
|member_of= Groups the species is generally seen as a member of. Differs from variants, as membership implies close association with others despite any and all differences, e.g. Goombas and Piranha Plants are members of Bowser's Minions, despite not being Koopas or related to them, because they have close relations.[Proposal 5]
|variant_of= An older or more basic entity that the subject is considered a subtype of, e.g. Paragoomba is a variant of Goomba.
|variants= An entity considered a subtype of the subject, e.g. one of Goomba's variants is Paragoombas.
|derived_subjects= Any subjects that are based on a pre-existing species, including real-world species, e.g. Bumblebee is a Bee.
|relatives= An entity with a variant-type relationship with the subject in which there are significant visual and/or behavioral differences between the two. Alternatively used if it's not clear who is the variant of whom (if either), such as with Spoings and Spanglers.
|comparable= Similar entities that are not necessarily based on one another, such as Koopa Troopas and Wild Wendells.
|notable= Notable members of a species, like how Toads would have Toadette.
|collapsed= Set to "true" to collapse the "variants", "relatives", "comparable", and "notable" lists when they are long.
Deprecated syntax
These parameters are no longer used in wiki articles and stay on the template only due to their usage on MarioWiki:BJAODN.
|affiliation= Important characters, groups or places associated with the character in question.
|subject_origin= The species (including real-world species) that the subject is based on, if applicable.[Proposal 6]
