Like with other Donkey Kong boss levels, Donkey Kong has four lives and the amount of lives the player has is dependent on how many Mini-Marios were collected in the previous level. If the player selects this stage from the level select screen, they will begin with four lives.

If the player selects this stage from the level select screen, they will begin with four lives.

In the boss level, Donkey Kong stands on a metallic platform that can shift upwards or downwards whenever he uses a lever, making it more challenging for the player to reach him. He can throw Spiked Barrels that roll to the left from any platform on the right, and can pound the ground to rain snowy debris, which can be dodged with a Headstand. The level layout features rows of slippery ice, which can make it difficult for the player to dodge the spiked barrels that Donkey Kong throws. He can occasionally throw a regular barrel that slides across the ice, which the player can use to retaliate against him. If the player stands too close to Donkey Kong, they will be punched by him and take damage. After attacking Donkey Kong four times, he will flee, with the player immediately proceeding to Mystic Forest.
