They are walking enemies wearing hockey masks with daggers stuck in them, a reference to {{wp|Jason Voorhees}}, the main antagonist of the ''{{wp|Friday the 13th (franchise)|Friday the 13th}}'' film series. This enemy's attack manner is similar to a [[Goomba]]'s, although unlike Goombas, stomping a J-son propels [[Mario]] upward.
