Yoshi and Baby Mario playing Scratch and Match.
Yoshi is about to win five extra lives in Scratch and Match

Scratch and Match is a Bonus Challenge in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. It involves scratching cards to get Extra Lifes. In Yoshi's Island DS, this minigame is just known as Scratch but otherwise has the same concept.

Scoring Chart

  • 3 Toadies – Nothing
  • 1 Baby Mario – 1-Up
  • 2 Baby Marios – 2-Up
  • 3 Baby Marios – 5-Up

The arrangement of the cards is randomized. There are four Toady cards and three Baby Mario cards in the game. Cards are selected with a disembodied hand, and it either scratches up, down, sideways, or in a cross shape. In the Nintendo DS sequel, the player can scratch it off by using the Stylus.
