Rattly, originally named Slinky Snake,[5] is a large, green, red-ringed rattlesnake and an Animal Friend appearing mainly in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. Rattly's body is coiled up like a spring, which he bounces on to move around. Rattly can bounce high, just like Winky from Donkey Kong Country.

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest[edit]
Rattly is an ally in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. Rattly's most noticeable ability is his Superjump, allowing him to bounce high to reach normally inaccessible locations, sometimes to find a level collectible or Bonus Barrel. Rattly can also jump in midair when falling from a platform, and he can bounce off Zingers without taking damage. On a small note, Rattly hops while moving. Rattly is first encountered in Topsail Trouble, where players start the stage in front of a Rattly Crate. They can optionally use Rattly's assistance up to the area with the Star Barrel. Rattly later appears in Rattle Battle, where the player characters are required to enter a Rattly Barrel in a room at the start to play as Rattly for a majority of the level. In Gusty Glade, Rattly can optionally be ridden. In Toxic Tower, players are required to transform into Rattly to perform high jumps to escape from the rising toxic waste, up until the Star Barrel, where players use other animal buddies. Rattly is used for the final segment in Animal Antics, set in a jungle environment.
Donkey Kong Land 2[edit]
Rattly is an ally in Donkey Kong Land 2. He retains his behavior and appears in the same level counterparts as in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Topsail Trouble, Rattle Battle, Gusty Glade, Toxic Tower, and Animal Antics.
Donkey Konga series[edit]
Rattly makes a cameo in Donkey Konga 2. He is among the characters whose artwork appears in Freestyle Zone while the player plays the DK Bongos. Two Rattlies are engraved on a bridge in the "Port City - Foggy Morning" background scene. In Donkey Konga 3 JP, Rattly's artwork can appear again in Freestyle Zone.
Super Mario Odyssey[edit]
Rattly the Rattlesnake is referenced in the Metro Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey, where one of the street signs is named after him. However, his name is misspelled "Rattley".
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (Nintendo 3DS / Nintendo Switch)[edit]
Rattly the Rattlesnake is referenced in the level Uptown, Downtown in the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch versions of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, where the same street sign from Super Mario Odyssey is named after Rattly, although his name remains misspelled.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]
Rattly appears as an Advanced-class support spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The spirit occupies one support slot and increases the fighter's jump height when used. The spirit's puppet fighter is a Yoshi with increased jump power on the Kongo Jungle stage. The track that plays during the spirit battle is an arrangement of "Snakey Chantey" from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, referencing the level Rattle Battle in which Rattly is playable.
Unused appearances[edit]
Via hacking, the player can control a partially playable Rattly in Donkey Kong Land III and Donkey Kong GB: Dinky Kong & Dixie Kong. However, his sprites are missing, and only part of his usual functionality remains intact: the ability to bounce off of enemies.
