Oil,[1] also referred to as an oil bin[2] or oil drum,[3] is represented in the Game Boy version of Donkey Kong as a ghostly[4] obstacle. Oil consists of fire in a tin resembling an oil drum with the text "OIL" written on it. It floats up and down in place, but touching it is deadly. Oil can be destroyed with the hammer.

Oil reappears in Mario vs. Donkey Kong and behaves the same way, with the can now even more resembling an oil drum.
