In the level Fiery Cavern, it is shown that they are related to Iwao, since the latter creatures will become Yukiotoko when Wario jumps on the Frog Switch and the temperature radically changes.
Their name is Japanese for Yeti. 雪男(Yukiotoko) literally translates to "Snow Man".
