If the categories of Canines and Felines is now Cats and Dogs respectively now, this should be simplified to rats so people can easily understand it.

- Randombob-omb4761 (talk) Rats aren't the only rodents, there's mice, capybaras, hamsters, squirrels, and chipmunks, those are ALL rodents.
- Baby Luigi (talk) All rats are rodents but not all rodents are rats. The term "rodent" describes exactly as Randombomb-omb has said, it's a category. Rats are much more specific than rodents therefore it doesn't merit a change.
- LeftyGreenMario (talk) I wouldn't categorize Gnawties, Conker, Ms. Mowz, Flurl the Squirrel, and Fuzz under rats because that's an insult to them.
- Walkazo (talk) - Per my comment, and the other voters who have pointed out that "rat" is not actually an accepted umbrella term for Rodentia as a whole.

- Except this proposed name isn't consistent with the other ones. "Cat", "dog" and "pig" all work as casual umbrella terms, but "rat" is not a proper way to refer to rodents as a whole. Given how Rodentia includes such non-rat-like critters as beavers and porcupines, it's not intuitive at all and would just confuse people. - Walkazo 23:29, 17 September 2013 (EDT)
