Template:Character-infobox Cappy[1] is a character appearing in Super Mario Odyssey. He is Mario's main ally throughout the game, and assists him in various ways.

Description

Cappy's normal form is a white top hat with large eyes, with blue wisps of hair coming out the top of it. Under the hat is his main body, which somewhat resembles a Boo. When transformed into different hats, such as Mario's Cap, Cappy's eyes will appear on the hat.

Cappy is Mario's main partner in Super Mario Odyssey. Mario can throw[2] Cappy in various ways; a straight shot, a circular throw, and a boomerang-like shot. Cappy can help collect items such as Coins for Mario, and also damage enemies. When thrown at certain enemies or objects, Cappy seems to "possess" them, allowing Mario to control them to get across stages. This ability is officially known as "capture."[3] When thrown at power lines, Cappy allows Mario to transform into a ball of electricity and ride down the line; this is a major mode of transportation within the game. Cappy also informs the player of local currency within the game's worlds, telling them that it can only be used in that world.

Cappy's role in the main story is unknown, though it can be assumed that he is an ally of Mario. He is "energetic but a bit timid."[4]
