If an acceptable name is found, then the article should be moved to the new title.

Template:Minigame-infobox Memory is a card game featured in Donkey Kong Land III. It is based on the eponymous card game.

Summary

File:Memory-Finished.png
A finished board in Memory.

This mini-game can be played at Bear's Sheepy Shop in every world. Dixie or Kiddy can play Memory for free the first time, but must otherwise pay five Bear Coins. The Kongs must also have a specific number of Bonus Coins to play Memory, although they do not pay them to Bear. The minimum requirement of Bonus Coins differs for each world. The Kongs' objective is to match ten pairs within a set time limit. The timer progressively starts out shorter in each world's Memory game. The pairs in Memory include an Extra Life Balloon, a Banana Bunch, a Bear Coin, a DK Coin, Dixie, Kiddy, Squawks, Ellie, Squitter, and Enguarde.

The Kongs are rewarded after playing Memory. Their rewards differ depending on how many cards they match. Among the rewards are a Bear Coin, a Banana Bunch, an Extra Life Balloon, and a Stop Watch, the very latter being one of the necessary items for accessing the Lost World. Dixie and Kiddy are only rewarded it if they match all ten pairs. The Kongs also win a DK Coin if they win at Memory for the first time. Bear additionally calculates the amount of seconds it took for either Kong to match every card pair. Dixie or Kiddy can optionally attempt to beat Memory under 31 seconds; If done so, Bear, out of surprise, supplies the Kongs with an additional five Bear Coins (resulting in six altogether).

Memory is also a bonus mini-game on the title screen. The player must first press a button combination of Up, Up, Down, Left, Right. He or she must then press START to exit out the screen and play Memory. Its gameplay is identical here and in Sheepy Shop.

After finishing the game, the player is lead back on to the title screen. Bear also provides the Kongs this cheat code if either one beats Memory under 31 seconds.

Trivia

  • Evidence found in the game's coding indicates that beating Memory in less than 31 seconds was originally planned to be a requirement to reach 103%. When the game loads a save file and calculates the percentage, it checks if the player's card game record is less than 31 seconds, but it does nothing with this data afterwards. [1]
