Kaptain K. Rool carrying his blunderbuss

The blunderbuss is Kaptain K. Rool's weapon he carries with him during the events of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. It is able to fire Kannonballs, spiked Kannonballs, barrels, and status-afflicting mists, which either freeze, slow, or disorient its targets. Ammunition can be fired at different heights and as various shots - straight, bouncy, and swirly. The blunderbuss may be used as a vacuum to pull in targets, whereupon the user can strike them with the butt of the gun. Additionally, it can also be used as a means of movement, thrusting the user forward at high speeds by aiming it in the opposite direction and using the jet propulsion with the barrel acting as the exhaust. However, if anything is jammed inside the barrel of the gun, the blunderbuss will misfire and explode in the holder's face.

Kaptain K. Rool uses the blunderbuss during the first duel with Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong inside his airship. He is shown battering Donkey Kong with the butt of the gun and shooting Kannonballs at him while he is tied up. He then attempts to stop the Kongs from rescuing DK by firing more projectiles at them, but his weapon gets jammed with Kannonballs over the course of the battle. K. Rool is defeated, but takes his blunderbuss with him, falling down Crocodile Isle and plundering into the water.

He uses it one last time in an attempt to end the Kongs for good in Krocodile Kore. But once again, after a Kannonball jams his gun, it misfires and sends Kaptain K. Rool into the core of Crocodile Isle, consequently sinking his entire island into the ocean. The blunderbuss is last seen with K. Rool as he sails away on a raft in the ending scene.

Paintings of K. Rool wielding the blunderbuss can be seen in the sunken ship segments of Gloomy Galleon in Donkey Kong 64.

The blunderbuss appears in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, where it is used in one of King K. Rool's attacks.[1]
