Hungry Lumas are a kind of pink Luma, that are slightly fatter than a normal one and have visible mouths. Hungry Lumas carry two sticks around, which both have two Star Bits on the top. They appear in Super Mario Galaxy where Mario must feed them a certain number Star Bits. When fed enough Star Bits, the Hungry Luma will transform into a new planet, leaving a Launch Star behind, which helps Mario reach the new planet. Trivia
- In the Sea Slide Galaxy a certain hungry Luma forgets to leave a launch star behind, requiring the player to use the cannon to get to the generated planet.
- Hungry lumas sound like and resemble Kirby,as well as sharing his interest in eating. They may be a reference to him.
