Rules for my talk page: | |||
1. No spam, vandalism, or inappropriate content on my talk page. They will be immediately removed by myself, another MarioWiki user, or an admin.
2. No personal information on my talk page. Putting personal info on any parts of this wiki is dangerous!
3. Good faith edits on my talk page should be removed with a good reason. Don't make that reason nonsensical.
4. Please do not issue any false reminders, warnings, or last warnings on my page. While I'm not an admin, the current admins do have the authority to remove those false reminders or warnings. In fact, abusing warning privileges is a Level two offense. See MarioWiki:Warning_policy#Level_two_offenses.
5. I do not know any of you guys personally, so please don't ask me friend requests yet. In addition, please ask me permission to use parts of my userbox tower. If you use an image from the userbox tower without my permission, you'll get an informal reminder. (Not the actual reminder template, okay?)
6. Comments should not be edited or deleted unless they are inappropriate, spam, or vandalism. Yes, it may be a bit hard to follow that rule when you notice that someone accidentally made an error in their comment. But at the same time, it's also against the rules on the MarioWiki to do so. See MarioWiki:Warning_policy#Level_two_offenses for more information.
7. I will archive between 50-100 sections.
8. While I am logged into this wiki every day, I don't always make lots of edits right now, as I am in still high school. I will be around to check new messages on my talk page, though, so as long as you follow these rules, there shouldn't be any problems.

Hey, the two articles you took the stub template off of are actually stubs. Stub articles are ones that are missing information, which both of those pages are, it has nothing to do with an article's length. ==re:Two Questions (for you)==
I'll be straight: bringing up the death of a beloved community member so bluntly and treating it as a minor convenience for your preferred outcome is majorly tasteless.
With that aside, to answer your inquiries:
"First, I noticed that this talk page is getting a bit long. Now, I don't want to be rude, but have you thought about archiving it yet?"
Thank you for pointing that out. I'll pull back to the process of archiving it by another five years.
"Secondly, why does MarioWiki:Courtesy#Censorship say that it is somehow "offensive" to censor offensive material?"
The actual wording on the page is "reopening these debates is frowned upon as being futile, disruptive, and even offensive". The point isn't that the suggestion to censor stuff is always inherently offensive, but that the motives behind it and the implication of censoring certain content can be offensive. Let me give you an example:
Let's say I am a very religious person. And in my religion, the country of Romania and its denizens are the freaking devil. I cannot see a Romanian flag without being excomunicated from my fellow Romania haters. Now with this in mind, I could launch a proposal to substitute mentions of Romania from Mariowiki pages to another name, or delete if not possible, because this content is offensive to me and I believe it should be censored in accordance to my moral beliefs.
It is very likely that Romanian users of the wiki would be offended by my suggestion, and they would be right - it's not my place to impose my beliefs on the entire site, and that goes for many viewpoints, on many topics.
"Censoring inappropriate stuff by replacing it with more appropriate stuff shouldn't be a problem as long as it does not degrade the quality of the article in any way, right? "
That's a big assumption, that censorship can be done without "degrading the quality of the article". If I substitute the quote on the Bob Hoskins page, a very memorable quote that succintly illustrates Hoskin's relationship to the movie, I am making the article worse. Swapping out the big bad word with something else or using any transparent method of obscuring what it is also makes it worse, first because I am denaturing Bob Hoskins' words, and because the usage of such a strong term is vital to the quote, to illustrate Hoskin's well-documented frustration and dissapointment with the movie. Likewise, if I go on the Shitamachi Ninjō Gekijō page and I use euphemisms to describe the many crazy and offensive things the characters in it do, or that I delete it because a child could read about it and I do not think children should be reading about such topics, I, very much am degrading the quality and failing the site's purpose.
When Walkazo argued against having censorship on the wiki's mainspace, her reasoning is that we are an encyclopedia, and encyclopedias don't censor. It's a view I agree with. Obviously, many consider a site very seriously and comprehensively detailling the Super Mario video games to be of limited practical purpose, not to mention quite silly. And perhaps it is, but that doesn't mean we can take our silly purpose very seriously. "Think of the childrens" has historically been a terrible argument for many things, with very negative consequences when applied. --Glowsquid (talk) 22:22, August 29, 2022 (EDT)
==re:My Edit to The Game Boy (comic) page==
One red link in a page that's over 5.000 bytes is not a lot.
When something like the FA pages says an article must have as few red links as possible, the implication is that you either make the article about the thing that's being red-linked, consider if the thing being red-linked warrants a page, or check if it's typo'ed and is supposed to lead to a page that already exists. That doesn't mean "delete red links every time you see them", because the thing being red-linked might be a valid subject for a page (which, being a ficitonal newspaper within the comic universe, the National Enquisitor totally is) that one plans to create later. When I made those comic issues pages, I red-linked to the Game Boy (comic) page, so that I wouldn't have to go back and add the link to those pages once I created the article - because that would be tedious and unnecessary. --Glowsquid (talk) 12:28, September 2, 2022 (EDT)

:I'm not this user, but it's subjective and a personal opinion. Not everyone finds a character cute. Rules for my talk page:
- Hmm, your talk page isn't for information about you, it's for discussions with you. Please move that info to your userpage. Yoshi Egg 1990 21:30, 20 August 2018 (EDT)
Whoops! I have just moved it to my userpage by copying and pasting it. Thanks for catching that.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mari0fan100 (talk).
- For some reason, your signature was transcluding your userpage contents. This leads to another point: if you want to change your signature and aren't familiar with how to do it, go to your preferences area and use wiki markup to change your signature in the signature area. Once you're done, check the box that reads "Treat the above as wiki markup", then save the page. Remember, all signatures must contain links to the user-in-question's user page and user talk page. Thanks! (T|C) 21:41, 20 August 2018 (EDT)

About Noteworthy and not Noteworthy Trivia[edit]
Hey, Mario Jc, I just saw your Cloud Kingdom edit.
Regarding the edit, which trivia is noteworthy and which trivia is not noteworthy? Just wondering, since noting that a kingdom has no 8-bit segments is noteworthy trivia, but noting that a kingdom has no Coin Rings is not noteworthy trivia. Perhaps you can include a link to which trivia is worthy of being noted and which one isn't. Mari0fan100 (talk) 16:52, 15 September 2018 (EDT)

Inactivity Reminder[edit]
I'll be going back to school this Tuesday, so I won't be as active on the wiki during the week unless I manage to finish all my homework and squeeze a few minutes in. I'll be more active on the weekends. You'll still see me online, though. Mari0fan100 (talk) 15:36, 6 January 2019 (EST)
Vandal talk pages[edit]
Hello, regarding your recent edits, while we do use the block template for talk pages of blocked users if they are not permanently blocked or if they have a talk page history that does not exclusively contain the welcome template, such as with Sonicperson's talk page, if the user is a vandal with a talk page that only contains the welcome template we generally delete the talk page outright, and in this case the delete template should be used. Thanks! Doomhiker (talk) 13:57, 13 January 2019 (EST)
RE:Sorry....[edit]
For future reference, proposals that effect how the administrative team works are a no, whether it's about block lengths or promotions/demotion. If you have a suggestion, you can post on an admin's talk page and it will be brought up internally.
In regards to the proposal, however, it's been decided that we will stick to the 2 week -> 3 month -> indefinite line for users. If there is a problem with their block, it can also be brought up, and the blocked user also has the option to email us through the link on the Admin Noticeboard. 23:02, 15 January 2019 (EST)
RE Informal Reminder[edit]
It is true that not all users are blocked because of direct vandalism, however sockpuppeting, having an inappropriate username or another action that would grant them a block can be classified as a form of vandalism due to being malicious done, which is what I meant in my vote, so I apologize for any confusion. Thanks for your understanding. Doomhiker (talk) 6:47, 19 January 2019
- True, however YoshiStar28 was evading a ban. If we did not block users who evaded bans the punishments for ban-worthy actions would be worthless, and if we did not ban sockpuppets than proposals would be filled with people voting multiple times. If you have any questions or concerns about how and why users are blocked, you should contact an Admin and if you want a change in that system then you can ask them to bring it up internally. Thanks for your understanding. Doomhiker (talk) 14:23, 20 January 2019 (EST)
Replying to old users[edit]
Hi, in the future, try to avoid contacting really old users for reasons like talk page archives like you did here. It usually isn't at all a good idea to start or reply to conversations that are outdated or no longer valid, as it adds no constructive input. In this case, said user hasn't edited since mid-2015, and though it is possible, it's highly unlikely that they'll actually respond to your comment in a timely manner. Thanks! (T|C) 10:51, 25 January 2019 (EST)
- Thanks! I noticed that I also replied to Xzelion's talk page, but he was inactive, too... Anyway, I'll try not to reply to old comments again. Mari0fan100 (talk) 19:15, 25 January 2019 (EST)

Repeatedly handing out undeserved warnings, when in most cases a simple informal heads-up would suffice, can count as abusing warning privileges and could lead to your getting a warning yourself, and repeatedly making false alarms on the noticeboard isn't any better either. - Ok, sorry. I will try to do that from now on. Mari0fan100 (talk) 23:03, March 16, 2019 (EDT)
- A bit of specific advice: making one bad edit is not necessarily "vandalism." They very likely came from a different wiki with different rules and are simply used to different standards. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:30, March 16, 2019 (EDT)
Signature[edit]
Dear Mari0fan100, Your current signature is in violation of one or more of the rules listed on MarioWiki:Signatures (signature is too long). Please change your signature and keep the regulations and requirements in mind when creating future designs. If you have not made the appropriate changes within one week of receiving this notice, your signature will be changed for you. |
Your signature needs to fit in this box. Mario JC 01:10, March 24, 2019 (EDT)
- OK. I fixed it. Mari0fan100 (talk) 13:47, March 24, 2019 (EDT)
Stubs[edit]
Hey, the two articles you took the stub template off of are actually stubs. Stub articles are ones that are missing information, which both of those pages are, it has nothing to do with an article's length. A lot of short articles are stubs, but not all of them, similarly if a long article is missing information it can still be classed as a stub. Yoshi876 (talk)
"Who hit that cataquack? Watch where you're going, Mario Kart Wii driver!"[edit]
I'll answer that mystery on your userpage: it's Baby Luigi. Ray Trace(T|C) 18:40, April 27, 2020 (EDT)
Uh... its me, 19lcooper again...[edit]
I am really sorry about before. I have been scanning the wiki and have made a few more edits. Please tell me if there are any problems with them (I love this wiki and really don't want to harm it.) I would really appreciate it. I am sorry for the trouble I caused before. Love your work and thanks for pointing out my mistakes.
From 19lcooper.
P.S: If this is disturbing your talk area then feel free to delete it...
re:Two Questions (for you)[edit]
--Glowsquid (talk) 22:22, August 29, 2022 (EDT)
re:My Edit to The Game Boy (comic) page[edit]
RPG enemy proposal[edit]
In that case, let the proposer know, or if it's been a day or two and they haven't taken care of it, you can do it yourself. Mario JC 06:56, September 20, 2022 (EDT)
Poochy[edit]
You said Poochy is only as cute as Yoshi in opinion, not in fact. How is Poochy not cute? WaluigiMan10000 (talk) 0:48, December 24, 2022 (EDT)
- I'm not this user, but it's subjective and a personal opinion. Not everyone finds a character cute. If Waluigi's page has Waluigi is handsome, you could say that's true if you think so, but others won't think that, so it is best to not include this on pages, as it is too subjective.
