Bloomsday Blowout (known as Scumflower Skirmish in the British English localization) is the fourth boss level in Wario Land: Shake It!, located at the end of Jiggle Jungle. This level takes place atop a log in the middle of a lake where Wario battles against Bloomsday.
Layout[edit]
The level starts in a jungle set at night, similar to Riverbloat Rapids, abiet without rain and a thunderstorm (similar to Ropey Jungle), the former as opposed to Soggybog River. Four to seven Merfles use their mystical powers to open the boss door. When Wario goes through the door, a giant flower pot appears, and Bloomsday appears from it. The flower tries to inhale Wario, who hangs on, only to be knocked by a falling Bandinero. Bloomsday attempts to blow Wario away, but the latter has survived the former's attack, and the fight begins.
During the first phase, Bloomsday not only attacks Wario by blowing him to the edge of the log where a Venus Guytrap waits to eat him, but can also spew Bumbleprods, Flipstings or Bandineros, the latter two which Wario can use to throw at Bloomsday's face, temporarily stunning it. While it is stunned, Wario can Dash Attack the pot, pushing it closer to edge of the log. Bloomsday responds to attacks by summoning a wave of thorny vines from the ground.
Bloomsday starts the second phase by continuing to repeat the moves from the first phase until it has been attacked at least two or three times, at which point it will change strategies. It will stomp the ground, causing a large, thorny vine to sprout in front of it, guarding its face. Wario must wait for a second stomp to remove the vine before he can throw another enemy.
After a few more hits, Bloomsday will start the third and final phase by stomping to create two large, blue vines on either side of the platform and trapping Wario between them. Wario must jump at the right time before it hits, because otherwise, he will be stunned. Bloomsday will then spew a Boomdinero and two Bumbleprods that land on the field. Wario must grab the Boomdinero, remove its armor by shaking it to turn it into a standard Bandinero, and wait for an opening. Bloomsday will try to inhale and blow Wario into the Brumbleprods and thorns, so he must let go of the Bandinero. Once Wario manages to resist the attack and dodge the hazards, Bloomsday will stomp again to remove the thorny vines, and Wario can throw the Bandinero and attack Bloomsday. After Wario does this twice, Bloomsday ends up being pushed off the log, and its corresponding Boss Emblem (or a diamond in the level's revisits) will appear, allowing Wario to collect it.
