Revision as of 16:26, July 30, 2010
By technichal problems on my laptop, I couldn't say something important as well during the proposal: What about screenshots? In my opinion it's necessary to talk about these type of images, because some of them contain watermarks or are relatively small in size (the most notable defects). I was thinking about adding some rules on this:
- Screenshots free of watermarks or logos on them. It is possible we are showing the logo of a site, considering then we "stole" that picture.
- Size: the size doesn't matter if the image shown has a great quality, and all the properties that fullfills the general rules.
- Sprites: sprites should be in PNG or GIF format. a JPG sprite will appear with "spots" or blurry.
- when featured, the image could carry a description (something similar to that shown in wikipedia's featured pictures).
- Actually, I'd say that every image should be free of logos, since websites like Gamespot or IGN can host art as well as screenshots. I'd also say that any screenshot of a 2D game should have to be png. On the other hand, since these are being voted on, I'd guess that any inappropriate images would probably be filtered out naturally. - 2257(Talk) 00:16, 10 April 2009 (EDT)
- Sure, although maybe these rules can be set there too, which every user can understand what we like for a featured image (or media) exactly... --
This type of idea failed, check the proposals archive...MarioWiki:Proposals/Archive_8#Site_Logos Edit: Never mind, I thought it's for something else, not eh Featured Images section. xD - RAP (talk)
- I support these rules being put in place. (It doesn't seem like they have been.) — Stooben Rooben 16:36, 16 April 2009 (EDT)
I appreciate your comment Stoob, I think too that these rules can be set in a part of the page so. ¢oincoll€ctor 23:06, 16 April 2009 (EDT)
Simple images
Many "Simple images" are being nominated, like Birdo and Dark Fawful Big.will images with many opposes, be deleted? ™ They should
- From the rules: "Any image with a negative amount of points at the end of a week (that is a nomination with a majority of opposes) is removed from the selection process." Time Questions 15:22, 15 April 2009 (EDT)
huh?
so after this ends, and one wins what happens to the others? do they stay on to get more votes like the polls, or are they removed as only won can win? Lu-igi board 16:18, 16 April 2009 (EDT)
They stay, but those with more negative votes than positive are deleted, as it says in the introductory blurb. - 2257(Talk) 16:21, 16 April 2009 (EDT)
why has the image not changed? Shouldn't it have happoened yesterday. Lu-igi board 16:17, 1 May 2009 (EDT)
What About Ties?
What do you think should we do if by the end of a week there are two or more images with the same amount of positive votes? I would suggest to feature the image that was nominated earlier. Other opinions? Time Questions 16:48, 1 May 2009 (EDT)
I agree. Also if there are any opposes, than that should take the support number down. (in the case of a tie, not just generally). Lu-igi board
p.s., how many opposes more than supports does an image need before being taken down? Lu-igi board
Im prettey sure that if it has at least 1 more oppose then support it will be erased at the end of the week User:Dark boo File:Dark Boo TTYD.PNG
Looks like we could have a tie today. I still think we should choose the image that was nominated earlier. Time Questions 13:29, 28 May 2009 (EDT)
replace
the pic needs replacing. I'd do it but don't know how yet... Lu-igi board
Changes
A think a rule should be made about uploading new versions of images when they are being voted, because that might change a lot of votes ™ EAT SHROOMS
A Suggestion...
Although I don't plan on doing this much myself, but I think that, like the Featured Articles, we have an unfeaturing option, in case an FI gets another version uploaded, or people change their minds about the quality. Also, in the case a FI ends up "disappearing" off of the main space wiki, this would be a good feature. · SMB (Talk) · 16:27, 1 July 2009 (EDT)
screenshots
I believe screenshots should be featurable. Some of them are great and it is a great way to get memorable moments. Lu-igi board 02:46, 20 July 2009 (EDT)
Mario Hoops 3 on 3
Why was that picture removed? It hat 16 supporters and 4 opposers. 16 - 4 = 12 = not negative... - Gabumon(talk) 18:22, 1 October 2009 (EDT)
Just a question.
Dimenshi has a question. Why did that one user remove not only Dimenshi's vote, but also a whole section picture (the one nominated by BMB) even though it was equal 3-3(but after they got rid of Dimenshi's vote became 3-4)? Can someone put it back up, because that is not fair! Dimenshi Knight (talk)
- Sorry about that. I didn't notice your vote was removed by mistake. I put the image back up. Time Questions 02:58, 23 October 2009 (EDT)
Metal Mario
To be a FI, an article must be on the mainspace, but the Metal Mario image that was recently featured isn't on any mainspace articles anymore... Doesn't that mean we have to remove its status of something? Fawfulfury65
- Wait, WHO deleted that image? :? Oh well, I guess we have to reupload it.
Umm... Why is it blocked
Could someone please explain to me why this page has been blocked?? Commander Code-8
Yeah what's going off?I wanted to nominate:
Because the Featured Images are going to be removed? It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 18:27, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
- Really? Why not do it when the proposal passed and not delay it 3 months later? Anyway, it's blocked because the process is obsolete. Ray Trace(T|C)
Hiatus?
Are we getting rid of the featured images once and for all, or are we simply putting the system on hiatus? Fawfulfury65
- I don't know, but it could been saved if this proposal had passed. KS3 (talk · contribute) 04:18, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
Ummm
Some people still support/oppose the example picture... doesn't it CLEARLY say NOT to say anything about it? Maybe it needs to be clearer... White OpsEnemy nuke incoming!
Protected
Its protected..., so does that mean Polls are coming back??!! YESS!!!! Booderdash (talk)
Finally! I started hating on this whole process. I can't find anymore images to feature anyway. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 19:55, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
