Hey, remember in the opening of ''[[Super Mario Galaxy]]'' when they said that the star bits collected into a giant power star that the toads then used, and it looked like the grand star? That's probably a call-back to this thing, which wouldn't surprise me given the other call-backs that game had. I'm hinting maybe this should be proposed to be merged once again. :::What I meant was this is mostly speculation than anything. The intro clearly shows the Star Bits forming into a Grand Star. They function nearly identicle, look similar, and is probably just an older version that was remade into the Grand Star. I think Nintendo meant for them to be same thing, just updated look and name. Perhaps a merge?
Proposer: Toadbrigade5 (talk)
Deadline: July 13, 2014, 23:59 GMT.
Support[edit]
- Toadbrigade5 (talk) My proposal.
- Wario land 3 (talk) per proposal
Oppose[edit]
- Peanutjon (talk) There is no proof that they are the same. Why don't we just merge Star Coin and Green Star?
- Marshal Dan Troop (talk) Per Peanutjon.
- Xzelion (talk) – there are plenty of things in the Mario world that look similar (which I don't think these do, I mean aside from bring a star with eyes), we shouldn't merge on that basis or the assumption the designers "probably" meant for them to be the same, probably is a dangerous word.
- Koopakoolklub (talk) No, no, no... they're large stars with much power... but, I mean, the sentence on top says, Not to be confused with Grand Star., which means they are different things.
- Mario (talk) One of them is the final star in the game. The other is the last star that powers the Comet Observatory, which are found after the final level of most domes. No split.
- Tsunami (talk) They are not the same thing: the giant is an upgrade of a Power Star that is the key to unlock Peach, the grand are powerful versions of Super Stars that make gates to new world or make the engine of the Comet Observatory works... well, they're not the same thing.
- Ninelevendo (talk) No lengthy explanation needed. They're not the same.
- Sonic98 (talk) Per Tsunami. And I would add that while the Grand Stars include the calculation of the normal Power Stars, the Giant Star not only is not even contegiata, but also allows Mario to become Wing Mario.
- Stonehill (talk) Just not the same thing.
- Vommack (talk) If that sarcastic proposal is funny, I can't see how this wouldn't be gut-bustingly hilarious. They look similar? The only thing that's similar about them is that they're both stars. Their functions have barely anything in common. Considering the amount of splits that have been made for things with the same name, "their name is similar" isn't an argument at all.
- SuperYoshiBros (talk) There is only one Giant Star in SM64/SM64DS, and does not count towards the star total (Unlike other Power Stars, the Giant Star will not increase Mario's Star total once collected). It looks exactly the same as a regular power star except larger. It also turns Mario into Wing Mario. Meanwhile, there are several Grand Stars in both SMG games, and they count towards the star total. They look like larger power stars but have small balls on the tips. In SMG2, they even transform into portals to other worlds. The only thing that makes these REMOTELY similar at all, is that they look like the Super Star.
- Lord Grammaticus (talk) Per all, per comments, etc. This is just bad form for several reasons.
- Walkazo (talk) - Per all.
- Lumastar (talk)- Per all.
Comments[edit]
Okay, I am not too serious on this proposal, I don't really care, but the stupidity of merging those two gave me quite a laugh. The green star a) functions entirely different, used to break gates and open bowser statues, will star coins are merely large amounts of currency, to buy access to paths as well as movies. They look utterly different and have no similarities at all. Toadbrigade5 (talk) 23:47, 29 June 2014 (EDT)
- If you found this stupid then why not just ask someone instead so making a TPP? - 03:48, 30 June 2014 (EDT)
- I do not understand why create TPP proposals that the same person who proposes them, finds them ridiculous or not supported despite being the creator. In my opinion, if these are the real reasons I would remove both this proposal is that of King Boo.--Sonic98 (talk) 06:43, 30 June 2014 (EDT)
- Guys, I'm pretty sure he's not calling his own proposal stupid, but Peanutjon's argument of "Why don't we just merge Star Coin and Green Star?". Since he does outline how the Green Star & Star Coin are different, which neither one is a part of his proposed merge. XzelionETC
- He still doesn't think that this proposal is important, so this effort could of easily been avoided. Why did you pit your comment in front of mine? - 17:25, 30 June 2014 (EDT)

Point is, the connection for both subjects is too weak to consider a merge. - 21:00, 30 June 2014 (EDT)
Okay, I was saying that PeanutJons analogy was stupid, but I really don't care. I created this proposal to suggust the idea, I am not to serious to support or deny this idea. I just voted since I had to, having proposed it.128.12.80.152
- Y'know, Toadbrigade5, if you have an account here, it would be wise to use it (unless you're a lazy ass like me and don't feel like logging in in the middle of the night ;)). Ray Trace(T|C) 18:03, 3 July 2014 (EDT)
- I am on a computer that is ridiculously long time to load logging in, but I did it. Success! Toadbrigade5 (talk) 18:23, 3 July 2014 (EDT)
- If you really had no reason to propose it, why would you?--Vommack (talk) 18:40, 3 July 2014 (EDT)
- I wasn't acutually trying to get them merged. I was merely suggesting the idea and seeing how the wiki would respond to it. This was kinda a test to see what you guys opinions were on the matter. Toadbrigade5 (talk) 01:05, 4 July 2014 (EDT)
Grand Star[edit]
Hey, remember in the opening of Super Mario Galaxy when they said that the star bits collected into a giant power star that the toads then used, and it looked like the grand star? That's probably a call-back to this thing, which wouldn't surprise me given the other call-backs that game had. I'm hinting maybe this should be proposed to be merged once again. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:05, 20 September 2017 (EDT)
- Per all the oppose votes above. 19:24, 20 September 2017 (EDT)
- None of them took this into account. Also, this is a conjecturally-named subject. Implication is that this is the same thing, practically spelling it out in the intro I just mentioned. Also this isn't a proposal, no reason to per anything. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:35, 20 September 2017 (EDT)

- Per Alex. There's nothing to be gained from lumping subjects together on flimsy and speculative pretenses. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 19:59, 20 September 2017 (EDT)
- I think the article could be moved to Grand Star (Super Mario 64) (still a conjectural name, anyway), considering the distinction in titles of articles with the same name. The items are similar, despite the different functions.
Just a suggestion. --PhGuy12 (talk) 21:43, 20 September 2017 (EDT)
