Shouldn't this article be renamed as the Gaddbrush? I'm pretty sure it's been called that . . .

I do not remember this being called the Gaddbrush, but Bowser Jr. calling it "my magic paintbrush". I'll create a redirect just in case, though. Wayoshi ( T·C·@ ) 18:06, 17 August 2006 (EDT)
OK, in the article Professor Elvin Gadd it's called both magic paintbrush and Gaddbrush. I still don't believe that Gaddbrush is correct, but a redirect has been made nonetheless. Wayoshi ( T·C·@ ) 18:08, 17 August 2006 (EDT)

Okay.WF99 18:14, 17 August 2006 (EDT)

It's The Gaddbrush. It's in the Prima Guide for the game.

Prima is an unofficial guide. It has no canonical value. -- Son of Suns

Then why is the trivia for Star Spirits, "the Prima guide says..." or something like that. Maxlover2

It says that because the Prima Guide is incorrect, and the wiki is correcting them. -- Son of Suns

Sorry. but from what you are saying, we need a "Prima-Correction Wiki" :) no offense. I understand. and, I am now confused. Maxlover2

We just don't want people mixing up official with unofficial material. So we point out errors so people don't get confused when the Prima guide contradicts the official material. -- Son of Suns

Color[edit]

  • When Bowser Jr. masquerades as Shadow Mario, the Magic Paintbrush changes color to match his shadowy consistency. It is only when he becomes Bowser Jr. again that the true coloration of the Magic Paintbrush is revealed.

The color of the Magic Paintbrushm's base is Yellow, like Bowser Jr.'s base. Maybe that the 'true coloration' is actually different from that. --Sushie Tag365 (talk | cont) 09:53, 8 October 2013 (EDT)

Infobox artwork[edit]

After Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury comes out, should we change the infobox artwork to Bowser Jr.'s artwork from that game? The current one (which is all the way back from Super Mario Sunshine) seems to be outdated for the paintbrush's design, and the design it's going for in Bowser's Fury seems like it will be the modern design, as that was used for Super Nintendo World as well. It's an interesting case. The art should definitely be updated, but I'm not sure whether it should be with the Nintendo World or Bowser's Fury art. I think that the Nintendo World one may actually have been made with Bowser's Fury in mind due to the timing, although the shading/style does differ. Maybe more art releases closer to the game's release will tell us. If we did use one for the infobox, I'd personally prefer the Nintendo World art due to the more standardised shading/pose/facial expression.

We should use the Nintendo World art as it both features the modern E. Gadd-less design, and a pose that more clearly shows the paintbrush. Doomhiker (talk)Artwork of a Topmini from Super Mario Galaxy 12:04, January 27, 2021 (EST)
Agreed with using the Nintendo World art. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 12:14, January 27, 2021 (EST)
I thought we could only use game artwork for infoboxes, but honestly I agree that the Nintendo World artwork is more fitting. Would it be ok to change it now? Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8
Yes!

Proper name[edit]

Given that the only sources we have for names come from Super Mario Sunshine material, if no one has a source for "Magic Paintbrush", I think this should move to "magic brush", per how Bowser Jr. refers to it in the game. LinkTheLefty (talk) 14:12, July 23, 2023 (EDT)

There's this quiz on the Play Nintendo site that refers to it as the "Magic Paintbrush", but since the quiz was released in the "back to school" period of this year (after you even opened this discussion), there's a pretty decent chance the name was pulled from the wiki. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 16:17, October 1, 2023 (EDT)
I would much rather prefer a proposal on this over a somewhat out-of-process page move, since this seems like yet another "officially accepted fanon name" case. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 21:56, February 22, 2024 (EST)
