Type Dream Ski Jumping

Dream Ski Jumping is a Dream Ski Jumping Dream Event that appears in the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. The objective of the event is to score as many points as possible as a team, with the event taking place in the Good Egg Galaxy. To unlock this event, the player must either reach the eight day of Individual Festival Mode or the tenth day of Team Festival Mode. The starting record for this event is held by Sonic with a score of 1240pt(s).

Gameplay[edit]

In this event, the player starts by swinging down the Wii Remote when "Start!" appears onscreen. Doing so with perfect timing will give the player a speed boost when starting, however doing so too early will cause the player to perform a slower, later start. When the character reached the end of the ramp, the player must swing the Wii Remote upwards to start the jump. The characters can gain a speed boost and start their jump higher if the player swings upwards with perfect timing, but will lose speed and altitude if they swing too early or late. Once the player has started their jump, they must tilt the Wii Remote to move their character, with the direction of tilt corresponding to the direction of the character's movement. The player should aim to collect the Star Bits along the course to gain points. Each color of Star Bit has a different point value, with the green ones being worth 10 points each, the purple ones being worth 30 and the orange ones being worth 50. The course also features star lines, which are areas of the course that the player can touch to follow the line and collect and Star Bits found on it. Bonus panels also appear on the course, which are collected in the same way as Star Bits, and if the player can collect three of them then their points will be doubled for a short amount of time. The panels can be lost if the player hits an obstacle on the course. The player can perform a special action by pressing A Button, which gives them a short speed boost and can be used at any time during the event. Balloons can also be collected on the course, which will give the player an item that they can use by pressing B Button. The player can receive:

At the end of the event, the player can earn bonus points by successfully landing on the star-shaped landing pad by swinging the Wii remote downwards. The player earns different amounts of points based on where they land, going from 20 to 40, 60, 80 and 100, with the areas for the higher scores being smaller and harder to reach. If the player fails to land on the star or falls off the edge, they will fall into a Black hole and not gain any points. At the end of the event, the team's individual scores are added together and used to decide their overall placement in the event.
