| |||
Hello, I've noticed that you've been using edit summaries once again to conduct in generally, rude behavior. This is your first formal reminder (after your first two informal ones) to please stop, and remember to be courteous and respectful of other users. 15:52, January 3, 2022 (EST)
:I wasn't trying to be rude in those 3 times. I genuinely don't know who Raysfire is, I didn't see how the mr. blizzard thing was trivia and I don't see how the Big Pokey one could be interpreted as rude. Sorry if i came off as rude but i wasn't trying to be rude those times. Somethingone (talk) 15:58, January 3, 2022 (EST)
::I don't know who Raysfire is either, but when removing content, the tone was unnecessarily condescending to perceived "obscure" content when the edit summary could have been written as "a streamer's opinion is irrelevant to the wiki". The second instance regarding Mr. Blizzard, I considered very rude, because it's a snarky remark that questions the intelligence of the person who added it in (which is myself, I was the one who decided the trivia was interesting enough to put on there). The third instance concerning Big Pokey accuses editors in general of lacking foresight to not add that specific information to the article when the information is likely overlooked. Even if you aren't trying to be rude, I've read these across as they are, and I find it unacceptable, especially since you already got reminded about the behavior twice. Please be compassionate and courteous to other users when writing edit summaries, especially if you disagree with them. 16:17, January 3, 2022 (EST)

== Warning == | |||
| |||
You have already been told both informally and given a reminder about your usage of edit summaries. Per MarioWiki:Vandalism#Dealing with a vandal, you shouldn't be engaging with vandals at all. Edit summaries like this and especially this are unnecessary. It won't make them stop and may even encourage them to continue vandalizing. Just revert the edit, report it to an admin, and move on. If you feel it's necessary to write an edit summary, a simple explanation like "Reverting vandalism" is sufficient, but don't interact with them. -- 18:50, January 18, 2022 (EST)
:Please stop doing that. It is a summary. Think of it like a book report. You wouldn’t put nonsense and rude things about a character in the book. You would write formally about the main events. Similar to this, you would not write mean things in a summary; you would write about the edit you made and why you did it, the latter is optional. Please consider these things while writing your summary.
::Looking at your recent edits, you still kept doing this. I don’t want you to be blocked.

== Minion Quest Snifit ==
Unfortunately, MQ doesn't have Snifit Minions, with the ranged Shy Guys instead being Bandits. That being said, the enemy list has Spiky Snifit and Ice Snifit sorted away from the Chuck Guys, though it does the same with the Goombas, Beanies, and Pestnuts, which the game otherwise indicates are each a variant of the respective previous item. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:55, February 10, 2022 (EST)
:Interesting...so, does this mean we should list them as variants, or just super close relatives akin to something like the Green Glove-Slugger relation? Somethingone (talk) 18:04, February 10, 2022 (EST)
::(Should point out regular Shy Guys are ranged troops in MQ as well). If this is mainly about Snifit relation to Shy Guys, the modern Paper Mario games may be a good place to look. For one thing, Snifits use the same voice clips as Shy Guys (heard more clearly in Snifit or Whiffit). This may be quite a minor thing, but in The Origami King there is one Snifit facing the wall and if spoken to, turns around and says "Oh, you thought I was a Shy Guy? Well sorry to dissapoint, but I'm a Snifit" (yes, it does look exactly like a Shy Guy from behind, certainly fooled me). 18:07, February 10, 2022 (EST)

==Re:Yoshi's Story== | |||
Vine Slime is, believe it or not, named 「ドカンオバケ」 on pages 47, 49, and 50. Compare with Caged Ghost, except that's rendered in hiragana instead of katakana. In context, Vine Slime is clearly more slug-like than ghost-like. For reference, the source assets have <tt>actor_slime</tt> and <tt>actor_slug</tt> entries that may be Vine Slime and the slug, respectively. As for the next question, the closest it comes to describing Do-Drop's "acidic" quality is the sentence 「<span class="explain"title="た">食</span>べることもできるが、<span class="explain"title="たいりょく">体力</span>が<span class="explain"title="へ">減</span>ってしまう。」 (You can eat it, but your strength will decrease.) on page 98 (why not when it's first mentioned on page 42, I don't know). The Shogakukan guide doesn't really give the enemies colorful descriptions beyond the scanned pages. LinkTheLefty (talk) 17:50, April 27, 2022 (EDT)
:Do-Drop makes sense I guess, English is usually more malleable/pun-filled than other languages. But as for vine slime...isn't the ghost stream enemy in the same level as Vine Slime also called a pipe obake, like you said on the "chartreuse colored ghost" page? If so, then I have to wonder how Shogakukan thinks a transparent rectangle is the same as a small blue slime drop.
:Oh and, it seems like you have access to the Yoshi's story internal names too? If you could, could you tell me the internal names for the weird creatures known as "adjective enemy" in Japan? Specifically, Chibi Snorkel Snake, Spiked Melon Bug, and Chibi Neuron. I'm especially curious about Mr. Eel, since Shogakukan seems to give it a Snorkel Snake connection that the game doesn't give. Somethingone (talk) 18:00, April 27, 2022 (EDT)
::You and Doc are correct. I had this mixed up with Ghost Stream, which I forgot still doesn't have an article. The level maps don't show vines, so I cross-referenced with YouTube to see approximately where they showed up in the level, and made the hasty conclusion that it's Dokan Obake. So upon closer inspection, here is my reassessment: not only do the Torrential Maze level maps not show any vines, but there are flat-out no mention of vine objects or vine enemies whatsoever. My theory is that vines and the slimes were a late inclusion to the game that may have replaced some instances of the Ghost Streams, and this was not updated for the Shogakukan guide in time. I'll have some more to say about this on Doc's talk page. Now as for the source assets, I'm only able to read text to make estimated guesses, as right now I'm not aware of a way to view the graphic data for complete confirmation. I think Spiked Melon Bug might be <tt>actor_kororin</tt> as it has a rolling function, and I don't see anything obviously diminutive of <tt>actor_unabon</tt> or <tt>actor_nyororon</tt> so I'm not sure what they might be. LinkTheLefty (talk) 14:02, April 28, 2022 (EDT)
:::Well that's interesting, I'll take note of that. Somethingone (talk) 16:16, April 28, 2022 (EDT)
::::Also, I don't really have a good explanation for ComBat's Japanese name. Since its source actor seems to be "ase" (sweat), I suspect that it's derived from a developer in-joke, but don't quote me on that. However, it should be noted that the artist of makes a little more sense of it. By the way, I think Do-Drop's Shogakukan profile is suggesting that it might just be extremely cold. LinkTheLefty (talk) 18:49, May 2, 2022 (EDT)
:::::Extreme cold could be an explanation for Do-Drop's harmful digestive properties, but how do we word it to mention it's acid rain in English and freezing rain in Japan?
:::::Oh and for ComBat, yea I guess it could be an inside joke. Certainly makes more sense than anything else about ComBats. Somethingone (talk) 19:10, May 2, 2022 (EDT)
::::::I'd mention the difference under a trivia section, personally. And if it interests you, <tt>actor_suiteki</tt> is its source file. LinkTheLefty (talk) 19:14, May 2, 2022 (EDT)
:::::::Much appreciated! I believe that's all the questions I will ask. Somethingone (talk) 19:46, May 2, 2022 (EDT)
::::::::Sure thing. By the way, I've since spotted Mr. Eel under <tt>actor_tibiunabon</tt> (Chibi Unabon), so the connection was planned. LinkTheLefty (talk) 23:03, May 2, 2022 (EDT)
:::::::::Cool, thanks for checking that! (does this mean sea cactus's file name is called <tt>actor_tibinyororon</tt>?) Somethingone (talk) 23:06, May 2, 2022 (EDT)
::::::::::No, and I can't seem to identify it right now, but incidentally, Sea Anemone appears to be <tt>actor_seaanemone</tt> (no "actor_seacactus" either). LinkTheLefty (talk) 23:25, May 2, 2022 (EDT)
:::::::::::Well, I can see that the spider is <tt>actor_minobon</tt>. I'm not sure which one Spiny Fish or Ghost Rider might be. I have a feeling that the former wasn't always called Togepuku in development, like what might've happened in Super Mario Galaxy. For reference, here are the files with "puku" and "obake" in their names: <tt>actor_minipuku</tt> (seems to be regular Cheep Cheep; a similar-named file is <tt>actor_miniteresa</tt> and Boo Cluster's Little Boo is about the same size as it), <tt>actor_pukupuku</tt> (these are the two big Blurps judging from their functions), <tt>actor_obake</tt> (Baby Bowser's pet ghost?), <tt>actor_obakelift</tt> (Ghost Rider or Balloon Bully?), and <tt>actor_kabeobake</tt> (Ghost Stream?). By the way, they're not filenames post-compiled from the game; these are pre-compiled "giga" filenames. LinkTheLefty (talk) 10:48, May 14, 2022 (EDT)
::::::::::::Well that's quite insightful for minobon(no idea how it ended up as spider in English though)! As for Spiny Fish, I'd definetly think that Spiny Fish wasn't originally a "Togepuku" but eventually did become one. It would make sense considering it looks wildly different (not that appearance is species-indicative in the greater Mario franchise). <s>Also, I may have one more small question considering the file names for the Yoshi's Story "Blurps" & the smaller Cheep Cheeps; Does Shogakukan refer to the "Blurps" as "Biggu/Deka/Okina/Kyodai/whatever-big-they-use Puku" collectively later on in the guide, or does it always refer to them separately as "Aka Puku" and "Ao Puku"? This is my last question regarding the guide/internal names, I promise.</s> Never mind, I should have really read the Big cheep cheep page before saying anything. They're just "(Okina) pukupuku" collectively. (P.S., you said the internal names are "giga" file names. Does that mean they're taken from the Nintendo Gigaleak or something?) ==Internal Japanese names==
As mentioned here, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 have an <tt>ObjNameTable</tt> archive/table file in BCSV format that lists Japanese names for a lot if not most of the games' filenames. While a lot of names match the ones seen in-game or in guides, there are some that appear to be early, such as Tarantox (クモキング) being <tt>TombSpider</tt> (トゥームスパイダー). I was wondering where these should be listed under the expanded additional names section. Some Switch games like Paper Mario: The Origami King and The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening also use something similar called <tt>glossary.msbt</tt> files in multiple languages, but those seem to be different as they align more with final/localized names and appear to be a reference for translators. LinkTheLefty (talk) 11:22, June 4, 2022 (EDT)
:Hmm...are those Japanese names used in-game or in a guide, or are they unused Japanese names found in the game's coding? If the latter, then I'd guess in the Internal name template, but I'm unsure. Somethingone (talk) 11:30, June 4, 2022 (EDT)
::I'm pretty sure it's the latter. There's a chance that they were used in older Shogakukan guides or elsewhere (I only have Encyclopedia Super Mario Bros. for these games), but that's unlikely. The <tt>glossary.msbt</tt> files in The Origami King and Link's Awakening also contain entries that for whatever reason never got used, but again, nothing particularly seems "early" there compared to the Galaxy games' <tt>ObjNameTable</tt>, which looks more like a reference file for developers rather than localizers. Hey, so in regards to the bumblebee and generic bee - no, I don't believe so, but the bumblebee is a scaled-down version of the regular bee (though personally it would've made more sense if it was the other way around). You can try asking Doc if that was the rationale behind it. Killer bees seem to be in a similar boat and I've put them down as relatives instead of variants. I'm not really sure about the Lava Ghost either - I did remove the Ghosts category from F Boy because a source states that it's literally a Fire kid instead of a hitodama, but in this case there's not much else to state otherwise. Maybe bring it up on the talk page? LinkTheLefty (talk) 13:02, August 13, 2022 (EDT)

== Undoing edits == | |||
Next time please look at the anon's edits closely (including the grammar) and check with policy before undoing my edits. I've been dealing with these edits longer than you have, and at this point it's much faster when I Wikipedia:Rollback the edits (which bypasses the summary function) when they're usually self-explanatory or they're the same errors that have been reverted on other pages before, and leaving them summaries is pretty much futile at this point. I know what I'm doing and I'm not reverting these edits willy-nilly and for no reason, and it's bothersome that you continuously revert them back saying there's nothing wrong with it and forcing another edit to the page having to explain it. If one of the edits really is valid enough to be kept on the page, then let me know. 11:49, September 27, 2022 (EDT)
== Coloration vs. Color variations ==
I appreciate you correcting me on those sections. But I feel like even coloration sounds a bit inaccurate too because it sounds like it implies that these are alternate colorations/costumes (which is true in some games by the way, even outside of Smash technically). While color variation refers to the species having different colors for each of the individual species. Even if say Toad and Yoshi are the characters of a standard Red and Green species respectively they are still technically the most common colorations in most games they appear in even if they aren't those named characters in games, even in Mario Baseball games the base Red vested Toads are the standard Red Toads for example. --KingGeoshiKoopshi64 (talk) 19:45, November 24, 2022 (EST)

This isn't really an attempt to sway you back into supporting the proposal, but I just want to let you know I was already planning a second proposal to implement WT's suggestion, so the bad precedent wouldn't there to stay. "a lot of the foreign name explanations on this wiki use quotes instead of italics for explanations" Then they should be corrected to MLA, as I do whenever I encounter such instances. Besides the ship one (which I would still support), I'm not aware of others. My stance is that, since the wiki has been applying MLA guidelines for a long while, it should keep doing so across the board and not pick and choose arbitrarily (e.g. "this and this manual/whatever other source doesn't italicise this word that would be italicised under MLA, so the wiki shouldn't either"). 11:12, February 14, 2023 (EST)

Uploads[edit]Hello, thanks for your uploads, though keep in mind that files need to include an image category and license in addition to a description. (I realise you used the text editor's uploader function to upload, but I suggest using Special:Upload in the future since it's easier to do this.) On the Special:Upload page, in the "Summary" box, fill in the "aboutfile" details (remove any unused parameters) and replace "uncategorized" with an appropriate image category link. To find it, go to Category:Images and follow the subcategories until you've found the right one (in the case of your most recent uploads, go to "Images by system" and you'll find "Nintendo GameCube Images") and add the link to the summary as Thanks for the info, im still a little confused on this whole wiki editing thing but this info will definetly help me in the future. thanks! 08:39, April 13, 2021 (EST) Proposal voting[edit]When putting your vote in a proposal, you are supposed to type your username like this: #Somethingone, the signature only needs to be there if you are leaving a comment. Nightwicked Bowser 11:23, April 19, 2021 (EDT) Ok! #Somethingone
I don't you understood the above comment. Only use four "~" at the end of comments. NOT votes. Typing four "~" creates a signature with a timestamp. Do it like this. 16:18, April 21, 2021 (EDT) "Formatting"[edit]Do you happen to be using a grammar-check tool like Grammarly in your edits? If you are, please be more careful with it and try not to rely on it too much, as it's occasionally incorrectly fixing things on articles that were already correct before (e.g. changing "versus" (as in versus mode) to "verses", changing the phrase "plug in" to the word "plugin", omitting the space before the question marks in "? Block", and changing "colour" to "color" on a British English description). Mario JC 22:23, June 18, 2021 (EDT)
You're still doing this. False positives are still being picked up and quotes and descriptions keep getting changed. Please check over every grammar fix (or just correct the page yourself) or a formal reminder may be issued. Mario JC 21:41, June 27, 2021 (EDT) Cactus[edit]Actually, either is acceptable, though since Minecraft's updates say it as "cacti" we should indeed go with that for this case. BIDDYBUD!!!![edit]I like biddybuds too!
Toad[edit]"Toad" is a proper noun and should be capitalised, not written in lowercase. Mario JC 00:10, October 18, 2021 (EDT) Also, when adding headers, any words that aren't proper nouns or the first word of the header should be lowercase. Mario JC 00:11, October 18, 2021 (EDT) One more thing, opening parentheses should be preceded with a space (like this) and not stuck together(like this). Mario JC 23:00, October 20, 2021 (EDT) Please recall what I said here regarding capitalisation of headers. Mario JC 23:31, March 16, 2022 (EDT) Edit summary tone[edit]Please don't keep typing in all caps in edit summaries like you are doing when fixing formality, this goes against MarioWiki:Courtesy. As for the next question, the closest it comes to describing Do-Drop's "acidic" quality is the sentence 「食べることもできるが、体力が減ってしまう。」 (You can eat it, but your strength will decrease.) on page 98 (why not when it's first mentioned on page 42, I don't know). The Shogakukan guide doesn't really give the enemies colorful descriptions beyond the scanned pages. LinkTheLefty (talk) 17:50, April 27, 2022 (EDT)
About Dark Craw[edit]If you look at the LoO, it's just "Spear Crow," suggesting more of a "friendly Goombas have hats" type of situation than an actual subtype. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:26, May 20, 2022 (EDT) Chop chop[edit]
Internal Japanese names[edit]As mentioned here, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 have an ObjNameTable archive/table file in BCSV format that lists Japanese names for a lot if not most of the games' filenames. While a lot of names match the ones seen in-game or in guides, there are some that appear to be early, such as Tarantox (クモキング) being TombSpider (トゥームスパイダー). I was wondering where these should be listed under the expanded additional names section. Some Switch games like Paper Mario: The Origami King and The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening also use something similar called glossary.msbt files in multiple languages, but those seem to be different as they align more with final/localized names and appear to be a reference for translators. This Edit Summary[edit]I see that you're trying to start a discussion, but please remember that there is no need to put in edit summaries like this. Also note that you have been reminded and warned for improper and rude edit summaries in the past. I'm not trying to discourage you from editing, I just want you to know that some of your edit summaries could be more courteous. Mari0fan100 (talk) 16:13, August 7, 2022 (EDT) RE: Spinning block[edit]Good evening! Quotes from Prima Games: "This dreamy floating platform challenge spaces out lots of spinning blocks along the path to the exit. The blocks don't spin continuously..." "...timing forward jumps onto new blocks to occur just as the blocks rotate." "Inside the room of rotating blocks..." Pages 214 to 215, Power Moons 45 and 46, Luncheon Kingdom. Spectrogram (talk) 10:06, August 10, 2022 (EDT) ReRe:Yoshi's Story[edit]Hey, so in regards to the bumblebee and generic bee - no, I don't believe so, but the bumblebee is a scaled-down version of the regular bee (though personally it would've made more sense if it was the other way around).
Undoing edits[edit]Next time please look at the anon's edits closely (including the grammar) and check with policy before undoing my edits. I've been dealing with these edits longer than you have, and at this point it's much faster when I rollback the edits (which bypasses the summary function) when they're usually self-explanatory or they're the same errors that have been reverted on other pages before, and leaving them summaries is pretty much futile at this point. Mario JC 11:49, September 27, 2022 (EDT) Coloration vs. Color variations[edit]I appreciate you correcting me on those sections.
Smash proposal[edit]This isn't really an attempt to sway you back into supporting the proposal, but I just want to let you know I was already planning a second proposal to implement WT's suggestion, so the bad precedent wouldn't there to stay. The only setback to that is the 4 weeks time in-between the attempts. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 17:03, January 30, 2023 (EST)
non parlo italiano[edit]"a lot of the foreign name explanations on this wiki use quotes instead of italics for explanations" Then they should be corrected to MLA, as I do whenever I encounter such instances. This isn't written in stone. "there's a lot of failed proposals regarding the conversion of this wiki to be MLA." Besides the ship one (which I would still support), I'm not aware of others. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 11:12, February 14, 2023 (EST) RE: Piranha Plant Slide music[edit]Hello there. At times I race on 3DS Piranha Plant Slide R and R/T in the tours the course appears in, I always tend to skip at the first part of the course intro overview (in which it overlooks the underwater section). Most of the time, I hear the instruments for the underwater music before entering the underwater section. It's true a lot of videos did not skip the course intro, but I did found ONE video that skips the course intro. Infinite8 22:05, March 19, 2023 (EDT)

This is your last warning. The next time you break the rules in any way, you will be blocked from editing the Super Mario Wiki. If you feel this last warning was undeserved, you may appeal it. |
Please review MarioWiki:Vandalism#Dealing_with_a_vandal. Do not interact with vandals in edit summaries.[1] Instead, please revert and report to the staff; if you cannot, then ignore. You have been warned already for this, so you have received a last warning. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 22:58, April 20, 2023 (EDT)
- Honestly, I really don't think that edit summary is worthy of a last warning, especially after that user posting here about it. I've even seen Mario jc leave summaries like that before. Nightwicked Bowser 03:21, April 21, 2023 (EDT)

Just letting you know I've updated the proposal with a new option: "Move page to the BJAODN archive and remove anything else related to it from the wiki". -- KOOPA CON CARNE 16:14, May 27, 2023 (EDT)

Reverted?[edit]
Hey, uh, why did you revert my edit just then? I'm not upset, exactly, but I am confused, "...?" isn't the most helpful of edit summaries. Blinker (talk) 16:03, November 21, 2023 (EST)
- You didn't remove "The Vinery", you removed "The Trial Course". I didn't know how else to put it - sorry if it was vague. S o m e t h i n g o n e ! 16:04, November 21, 2023 (EST)
