"Always Smiling" is a playable song in Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix. It is very loosely based on Johann Strauss II's "Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka." While other songs include intermittent vocal samples, "Always Smiling" is one of two songs to have lyrics in a traditional sense, with the other, "Choir on the Green," not appearing in Story Mode.
In Story Mode, the song appears as stage 5-1, Raiding Bowser's Castle. The song's background shows Mario or Luigi piloting the SS Brass through a magmatic canyon, arriving at Bowser's Castle at the end of the song.
In Mush Mode, this song features Spinies, explosive mines that decrease the dance meter drastically if stepped on. It is also the first song to feature Bill Blasters, which position themselves at the bottom of the screen on one row, and occasionally move to fire a Bullet Bill upwards. Bullet Bills can be reflected back at a Bill Blaster by stepping on them, and doing so three times destroys the Bill Blaster.
Story Mode text[edit]
Someone turned up the heat in here! Dodge the Bullet Bills to make it to Bowser's Castle!
Lyrics[edit]
These lyrics are conjectural, as no officially confirmed lyrics exist.
With your wings tonight
You can come from any walk of life
Your beat will come on the inside
But when you get right into the heart
You know there's no other way to flySmile will bring the sunshine days
Comfort me tonight, with your wings tonight
Smile will bring the sunshine days
You come anyway on the way you rideYou can come from any walk of life
Your beat will come on the inside
A chance you have, flying that way
As I fly across a distant skySmile will bring the sunshine days
Comfort me tonight, with your wings tonight
Smile will bring the sunshine days
You come anyway on the way you ride
Comfort me tonight, with your wings tonight
You come anyway on the way you ride
