Super Mario Rescues The Princess is a two minute (including credits) short created by Seth MacFarlane (famed creator of Family Guy and American Dad).  It is the first short video of MacFarlane's series Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy.  Like his two television series, the short contains comedic out of characterization and satire that includes good natured self bashing on the characters parts (as they frequently point out quirks about the video game universe they live in during their arguement).

The short takes place in the game Super Mario Bros., the first game that Mario fights Bowser and meets the Princess (not including his childhood in the Mushroom Kingdom).  The official summary is:  Mario finally overcomes his enemy and rescues the woman he has been fighting to save. Too bad the princess is not impressed by what she sees.

Plot Synopsis
Mario arrives at the end of the last level for his final battle with Bowser, in which he leaps over him and uses an ax to destroy the bridge they were fighting on and sending Bowser into the lava pool below.  He goes to the next room to find Princess Peach, who is at first grateful for his heroism until he asks for a kiss.  Immediately her mood sours as she accuses him of rescuing her just to "get with her."  He rebuffs by saying he only asked for a kiss, not sex, and saying he went through alot to get there.  Clearly, the Princess doesn't think "leaping a bunch of mushrooms" is impressive.  He retorts by pointing out that she was the one who got captured by mushrooms, and that he didn't just "leap a bunch of mushrooms," that there were these "turtle shell things."  He adds that the only help he got was once in awhile a gold star would appear, he'd touch it, the music would go "da-da-da la-la-da-da," but the whole thing was hard.  Still, the Princess refuses to kiss him.  Finally he says "screw thing," and says Bowser can have her before walking away.  Evidently, Bowser survived the fall into the lava, for he leaped over, grabbed the Princess, and bit her head off.
