They, along with their ally [[Count Down]], guarded an early part of the factory. Mario and his friends attacked Count Down and during battle it became obvious that Count Down was merely a powerful puppet used by the Ding-A-Lings. Mario and co. managed to defeat the giant clock and its masters and move on to the rest of the factory.
