Toothberries have a red variation, [[Ack]]s, which are more aggressive, have a higher jump, and take two hits to defeat. Toothberries have two other variants, [[AckStack]]s and [[Cageberry|Cageberries]]. AckStacks are yellow variations of Toothberries that appear in groups of five, and are stacked on top of each other like a pillar. If the [[Kong]]s force them to attack, they dive down to the ground and become vulnerable to jump attacks. Cageberries are simply Toothberries that are trapped in a cage.


They attack by jumping up and biting the Kongs. In Itty Bitty Bitters, they come out of walls, statues, and floors too. There are three kinds of Toothberries: blue, red, and yellow. The red Toothberries are more aggressive than the blues, and jump higher. They also require more jumps to be defeated. The yellow Toothberries, known as '''Acks''', appear as groups of five, and are piled on top of each other to form a wall. If the Kongs force them to attack, they'll dive down to the ground, and become vulnerable to jump attacks.

Another version, called '''Cageberries''', are Blue Toothberries trapped in cages. Despite being trapped, they can still jump with the cage protecting against any possible attack and harm the [[Kong]]s. [[Donkey Kong]] can, however, use the [[Ground Pound]] to flip the cage over and stun the Toothberry for a while. If he stands over the cage and does a another ground pound, the cage can act as a [[trampoline]] to make the primates jump higher than normal.

Toothberries[1] are enemies in Donkey Kong Country Returns and its port. Their name is a portmanteau of "tooth", referring to their razor-sharp teeth and means of attack, and "berry", as their color scheme matches that of common berries. These blue furball-like creatures attack the Kongs by jumping at them and then biting with their sharp fangs. They make a growling noise similar to that of a puppy. Donkey Kong can defeat a Toothberry by jumping onto it. Toothberries make their first and most notable appearance in the level Itty Bitty Biters, where countless of them appear out from the walls, statues, and floors. They also appear in Clingy Swingy.
