Instead, he originally was a peaceful resident of Subcon, and became the formidable fiery force "Fry Guy" thanks to Wart's corruption. Wart wanted to spread misinformation about Fry Guy being "his own" création, and that he was "a créature of pure malevolence". Additionally, what you see happen upon hitting Fry Guy a 3rd time (him splitting into 4 smaller, vulnerable flames) is a curse placed upon him, by Wart himself.
