“NOW IMA GET SUPERHEATED!”
Mount Pajamaja, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team

Mount Pajamaja is a boss in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. Fought in Dreamy Mount Pajamaja, this character is the dream world version of the location in the real world, which happens to be a living creature as well as a volcano. It's the second giant boss Giant Luigi battles in the game.

Appearance

Mount Pajamaja is a large volcano with a face, arms and feet.

History

After Bowser and Antasma used the Dream Beats, Mario and co escaped into the Dream World, ending up in Dreamy Mount Pajamaja. Unfortunately though, the portal back to the real world closed due to Luigi falling into a deep sleep, causing Mario and Dreambert to have to think of a way to force the portal to reopen.

Their solution was to cause the Dream World version of Mount Pajamaja to erupt, hopefully causing the portal to the real world to appear again.

Halfway up the mountain though, the group realises that this version of Mount Pajamaja is actually a sentinent being, and proceed to annoy it by slamming blocks into its face in an attempt to set off a volcanic eruption. After a quick chase down to the bottom of the mountain (and the realisation that the portal back to the real world hadn't opened yet), Mario and Dreamy Luigi took on Mount Pajamaja in another giant battle.

Afterwards, Mount Pajamaja's defeat caused the portal to open again, and it could be seen in a dormant state at the top of Dreamy Mount Pajamaja again.

Battle

In battle, Mount Pajamaja has quite a few more attacks to counter than the first giant boss did, and the battle itself requires more use of tactics thanks to the introduction of the Hammer Uppercut and Drill Stomp attacks.

As for attacks, Mount Pajamaja has several different ones depending on what phase of the battle its in. In the first one, it can either shoot out a volcanic rock from its summit or charge towards Luigi. The former has to be dodged by hitting the rock back with the hammer until it gets stuck in Mount Pajamaja's top and causes damage, the latter by repeatedly pushing the boss away until Giant Luigi shoves it backwards.

Later in the battle, Mount Pajamaja then becomes 'superheated'. In this form, a giant volcano comes out of the ground underneath it, putting the boss itself out of Giant Luigi's reach. Volcanoes will also erupt in the distance (either horizontally or vertically behind the boss). If Giant Luigi leaves these alone for a turn, they'll shoot out a rock and heal Mount Pajamaja. He can avoid this by using either the Hammer Uppercut or normal hammer attack to knock the mountain pieces towards the volcano, which causes the piece to bounce back and cause damage to Mount Pajamaja.

In this phase, Mount Pajamaja also has some new attacks. One of these has it shoot rocks that Luigi has to deflect back at the boss with his hammer, another has it shoot rocks that roll along the ground towards Giant Luigi (that have to be destroyed by tapping circles on the touch screen). If these attacks do hit, then Mario will sometimes be thrown off Giant Luigi, meaning that he can't use either Drill Stomp or Rhythm Mushroom for two turns.

After the two lower pieces of the mountain have been hit away, Mount Pajamaja will then reset to phase 1, and the pattern repeats until it's defeated.

Mount Pajamaja X

Template:Dtenemy Mount Pajamaja is also fought in the Battle Ring, as the upgraded version known as Mount Pajamaja X. Mount Pajamaja X is red in colour, and deals more damage with his attacks.

Hard Mode Differences

In Hard Mode, the attack in which Mount Pajamaja shoots a rock at Luigi is made harder to dodge by the rock both moving a tad faster and at a different angle.

In the Battle Ring in Hard Mode, the player also gets only 11 turns to defeat Mount Pajamaja, forcing them to counter every attack perfectly and do maximum damage with all of their own to win within the time limit.
