Bony Beetles, as they appear in Super Mario World and Paper Mario.

A Bony Beetle is the skeleton version of a Buzzy Beetle in Super Mario World. They walk around, stop, then stick out spikes. They also are immune to Fireballs, so timing is critical.

They are later seen in Paper Mario, with a complete makeover, resembling gray Spinies with yellow spikes, making people confused if its a dead Buzzy Beetle, dead Spiny, or just a different type of enemy.

They're defeated basically the same way as Dry Bones, but harder, so the player should whack them with the Hammer often when fighting them.

  • Location: Bowser's Castle
  • Tattle: It's a Bony Beetle. They're bony Buzzy Beetles. ...Hence the name. It's tough to damage 'em. When their spikes are out, their attack power is 5. When they retract their spikes, take the opportunity to flip 'em over. After that, beating 'em will be a breeze.
