Mario Party 4 was the fourth game in the Mario Party series, and the first for the Nintendo Gamecube. It follows the original's style of board game-esque gameplay, as well as the use of zany items and mini-games. The game's goal, as with most of the others, was to collect stars.

Playable Characters

Note: This is the last Mario Party game in which Donkey Kong is playable.

Plot

A Toad, a Koopa Troopa, a Goomba, a Boo and a Shy Guy all found the odd, mystical Party Cube. They find they can use it to hold a party and create boards using it, themed around their dreams. They invite all the characters to a party. (It is said that it is the birthday of the character you play as.) Eventually, Bowser enters to ruin things with his own board, hosted by Koopa Kid.

This is notable for being the first Mario Party game to actually have a plot revolving around a real party.

Boards

  • Toad's Midway Madness
  • Koopa's Seaside Soiree
  • Goomba's Greedy Gala
  • Boo's Haunted Bash
  • Shy Guy's Jungle Jam

Thwomp and Whomp (who is making his first appearance since Super Mario 64) have a room full of bonus mini-games. These mini-games could be played on two bonus boards. Their mini-games are:
