A Skillshot is a special move attributed to the sidekicks in Mario Strikers Charged. When making a fierce shot, sidekicks makes a particular maneuver that could stun the goalie in a brief sort of time and so, make a goal. These shots, however, take time to charge up, and can be stopped with a simple tackle. Interestingly, depending on the type of player, the Skillshot will work better with a type of strategy.
Hammer Throw
Hammer Bro.'s Skillshot. Once fully charged, Hammer Bro. jumps up and tosses numerous Hammers at the Goalie. After doing this, the Goalie will be imobilized. Hammer Bro. then continues on to whack the ball with his second Hammer. This almost always falls into the Goal, and it is very rare to see it fail. The move will often fail if Hammer Bro. is too far from the goal, a the Hammers won't hit the Goalie. As such, it is best used on the sides of the Goal, as Hammer Bro. can easily curve the ball, and he is not too close or too far from the Goalie.
Fire Meteor
Toad's Skillshot. Once fully charged, Toad will kick the ball, which is now covered with Fire, towards the goal. If the Goalie blocks it, he will catch fire, and will not be able to block shots as easy. If Toad is quick enough, he can strike it into the Goal before the Goalie shakes the fire off. The move is basically useless when far away, as the Goalie almost always catches the ball. Toad must be close to the Goal in order to strike it past the Goalie. This is common with Playmaker characters.
Shell Smash
Koopa Troopa's Skillshot. Once fully charged, Koopa will cover the ball with a giant Dry Bones shell, and kick it towards the goal. When the Goalie blocks the ball (which will be almost everytime), he will become dazed, while the ball flies across the stadium. However, unlike Dry Bones' Shocker move, the ball will usually not fly back to Koopa, and fly somewhere else on the stadium. However, it will usually fly towards another partner, who can proceed to kick the ball into the Goal. This move can be done even when far away from the Goalie. However, it will usually be harder to hit the ball in when Koopa is farther away.
Extreme Egg
Birdo's Skillshot. Once fully charged, Birdo, who has the ball in her tube-like mouth, will shoot a giant egg, along with the ball, towards the Goalie. The egg will not go through Captains or other Sidekicks, but it will sink the Goalie into the ground, allowing the egg to pass into the Goal with no disruptions. So, it should only be used when there are no other players in front of Birdo. The move was most likely inspired by Birdo's main attack in Super Mario Bros. 2.
Possess
Boo's Skillshot. Once fully charged, Boo will possess the ball, turn it invisible, and head straight towards the goal. Once he gets close enough, he shoots the ball out of his body. This move is useless if Boo is too far from the goal, as the Goalie will always catch the ball. If close up (but not too close), Boo will be invisible when he passes the Goalie, so he can pass him, and shoot into the goal. The fact that it is only useful when up-close is very similar to Toad's Skillshot. It is likely inspired from the fact that ghosts can possess items or people.
Shocker
Dry Bones' Skillshot. Once fully charged, Dry Bones will kick the ball with electricity, which will shock the Goalie, and allow Dry Bones to kick the ball into the Goal. This Skillshot is arguably the easiest to master, as it shocks the Goal, and comes back to Dry Bones, no matter how far away he is. This allows him to headbutt the ball straight into the Goal, while the Goalie is still shocked. It can be used anywhere on the opponents field. The effect of the move is very similar to Koopa Troopa's Shell Smash, except that the ball flies back to Dry Bones.
Dirt Drill
Monty Mole's Skillshot. Once fully charged, Monty Mole will dig underground, and move towards the Goalie, while underground. Once close enough, he pops out of the Ground, and hits the Goalie. This move is very tricky to master. If Monty Mole is too close, the Goalie will stop him, catch the ball, and knock Monty Mole into the Electric Fence. If too far, he will pop out of the ground too early, and will be hit by the Goalie. It is best used at the Halfway section of the opponents field. When it succeeds, he will push the Goalie aside, and push the ball into the Goal.
Bullet Bill Blast
Shy Guy's Skillshot. Once fully charged, Shy Guy will jump on a Bullet Bill, and head towards the goal. It will explode, knocking out every character in the area, including Shy Guy. However, Shy Guy will recover earlier than all the other characters, and will be able to kick it into the goal. But, the other characters recover shortly after, so it is easier to just get another player who was not hit to come and kick it in. This skillshot is one of the hardest to master, as Shy Guy knocks himself and his partners out.
