Since this Luma has a few unique names (Apricot Luma, Baby Luma and Little Luma), I think this article should be moved to one of those. I'd go for "Baby Luma" myself. How do we know the Luma from the storybook and Mario's Luma are the same white Luma? C Teng [talk] 09:37, 2 November 2008 (EST)

Wait, never mind, I read the paragraph wrong. C Teng [talk] 14:27, 2 November 2008 (EST)

In the Mario Galaxy trading cards ([1]), its says that Luma's name is 'Apricot Luma'? o.O And the game says it's just Luma. I think those trading cards don't want to confuse anyone with the Luma species. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC

Is Luma ever actually called Luma with a capital L in the games? GreenDisaster (talk) 16:37, 8 February 2013 (EST)

Yes. Rosalina introduces him in SMG. Mario4Ever (talk)
All right. I was just wondering since the trading cards call him "Apricot Luma", but I suppose the game takes precedent over the cards. GreenDisaster (talk) 23:28, 8 February 2013 (EST)

Baby Luma

Luma is called 'baby' Luma in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Just thought I'd mention.RPG Gamer. I HAVE RPG!! (talk) 11:59, 26 March 2013 (EDT)

yeah, even the SMG2 Website refers to it as Baby Luma

Mario Kart wii appearence.

I thought that a Luma was with Rosalina in her kart. Should it be added? I am goombob :) (talk) 11:49, 15 May 2013 (EDT)Goombob

Luma and a Luma are two different things. One is a character and another is a species, much like Toad has a name and a species. Here, the one in Mario Kart Wii is a Luma, but not the character.

This is the first page of Rosalina's Storybook in the Japanese version of Super Mario Galaxy, where Luma's name is rendered as "星の子" but read as "チコ". The later few pages refer to him simply "チコ". [2] A gossip-loving Toad (Talk) 06:14, 7 May 2016 (EDT)

Hmm, intriguing. I can't find any sources that confirm "チ" as a typical pronunciation for "星", so could it be that "チコ" actually comes from a shortening of "hoshi no ko" to "chiko"? MarioComix (talk) 15:41, 7 May 2016 (EDT)
I guess it's more likely to be a shortening of Japanese "小さな子" chiisana ko, which means "little child". Coincidentally, wiktionary:chiko says that chiko in the Ladino language means "little" or "child". Of course, these are just my guesses. A gossip-loving Toad (Talk) 21:07, 8 May 2016 (EDT)

Different Luma

In Super Mario Galaxy, the Luma sacrifices itself to save the universe, but in Super Mario Galaxy 2 it is alive. Is this Luma the same one as the one in SMG because Mario can no longer spin to attract coins underwater in the sequel.
