Manic Mallets is a button-mashing, 2 vs. 2 mini-game in Mario Party 5.
In this mini-game, the player must avoid being squished by a giant hammer by hitting a small switch as fast as possible with a smaller hammer. Said giant hammer raises from underground at the beginning of the game, in which it shows all players pushing the switches. The team of players that pushes the button the most times in 10 seconds is the winner, and therefore is not squished by the hammer.
The background is certainly interesting in this game. It shows several other giant hammers of different colors in a field, with a blue sky and the sun very visible, with only few, faceless clouds floating around. The setting in which the player is pure sand, though, and the hammer raising from underground seems to be made of pure stone. It is surrounded by small stone tablets. The hammer will slowly turn and face the team that is losing.
In-Game Instructions
Hit the switch with a hammer. The team that hits it the most times wins.
Advice
The giant hammer in the background will point to the team that has the lower number of hits.
