A Gorgon is a relative of Enigmas in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. They are encountered in the Sunken Ship. Although a Gorgon resembles a large, green bat, the monster is actually a colony of identical smaller bats that come together to create one larger Gorgon. Somehow, these bats can both think independently and combine their consciousnesses to act as one being. These bats can even detach themselves from the group and reform into different shapes. The name "Gorgon" originally comes from Greek monsters that resemble women with colonies of snakes as their hair.
