Cheep Cheep Shot is a boss minigame in Mario Party 9. The name is a pun on the term "cheap shot," a term used to describe when a player uses an underhanded tactic in a sport or game to score a point.

Introduction

The players dive into the ocean. Cheep Cheep then swims around for a second before coming up in front of them.

Gameplay

The players must damage Cheep Cheep by grabbing the Green Shells that are inside bubbles and tossing them at him, which earns the players three points. Players must also avoid Cheep Cheep when he charges, as getting hit makes the attacked player lose a point. When Cheep Cheep loses half of his health, he becomes enraged, speeding up his tackling attack. He also flies out of the water and dives back in, spiraling down. The player who delivers the final attack earns three additional points, and the player with the most points at the end wins.

Ending

When Cheep Cheep is defeated, he simply tilts his back in pain and explodes, revealing Mini Stars in Party Mode and Solo Mode.
