Minky Mischief is the eighth level in Donkey Kong Land III. Located in the eastern woods of Primate Plains, it is the second level in this area as well as the first "Tree" level. To complete it, Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong must make their way through a forest of giant trees, whose trunks are hollow for the most part. They can stand on bark platforms and branches to navigate this vegetal maze, but unfortunately for them, the woods are inhabited by a territorial tribe of Minkeys. These unfriendly monkeys will throw acorns at the Kongs as they try to climb up ropes, however Dixie and Kiddy can avoid the projectiles by hiding behind several Barrel Shields. The Kongs will also encounter a few Nids, who may unwillingly help them reach higher branches.
In the second half of the level, Dixie and Kiddy will find an Animal Barrel which, upon being broken, releases their friend Squawks. The parrot will then take over; shooting eggs at the Buzzes, he will eventually reach the No Animal Sign. The last part of the level features more Minkeys and a couple of Bristles.
"Minky Mischief" is reminiscent of the Donkey Kong Country 3 level "Barrel Shield Bust-Up".
Trivia
- Although the correct spelling of "Minkey" includes the letter "e", this level's name is spelled without one. Other similar mistakes exist in the Donkey Kong Country series, such as Krochead/Krockhead Klamber or Re-Koil/Total Rekoil.
- While most forest levels in Donkey Kong Country 3 take place in only two trees, "Minky Mischief" features many more.
