Template:Infobox Mario Sports Mix is an upcoming Mario sports game for the Wii, featuring Mario and company competing in hockey, basketball, dodgeball, and volleyball. This game will be developed by Square Enix, who also developed Mario Hoops 3-on-3 and is scheduled to be released in Japan by November 25, 2010 and in North America to be released in 2011.
Gameplay
There will be cooperative play, as well as versus. Cooperative play will be up to three players, while competitive will be up to four players. A Wii Remote and Nunchuk control style has been revealed so far as a control scheme of the game. Players will be able to perform actions through moving the Wii Remote, such as jumping or hitting a volleyball.[1]
Confirmed Sports
Basketball
It will be played in a similar way as Mario Hoops 3-on-3. The coins that the players gather will be added up to the score.
Volleyball
As in Mario Hoops 3-on-3, there will be ? panels in the floor, which will give items to the players who step on them. The coin system will also be the same.[2]
Ice Hockey
Like the other sports, Hockey will also have the ? Panels on the floor that gives the players items. Also, the puck is a coin.[3]
Dodgeball
Dodgeball will be played by throwing balls, with 2 teams of 3 and colored Yoshis representing a team as seen in the E3 video. Players will have HP and lose a section when they get hit. As shown in screenshots, items can be used to hinder the opposing teams and make them lose their vitality.
Special Abilities
As in Mario Hoops 3-on-3, this game is shown to make use of character specific abilities. These abilities would allow the characters to unleash a powerful move in the variety of sports in the game. When used, they will completely change the gameplay of the sports. Each special ability will be unique to each character and these moves tend to vary from the sport that the player is playing.Template:Fact
