The first mission here is very reminiscent of the same mission in ''[[Super Mario 64]]'' and [[Super Mario 64 DS|its DS remake]], with a few minor changes. Now, when the player gets to the top, they fight a regular [[~~Thwomp~~]], and upon its defeat, a hole opens up in the ground, taking the player to a sole platform, where the player fights the now even bigger ~~Thwomp~~ King. The ground he will pound is now highlighted red, and the player can walk up his legs. The player should [[Ground Pound]] an imprint on his back three times, where he will utter the same dialogue as in the original ''Super Mario 64'', as well as then hitting the ground saying "Darn", turning into a star.
