Il Piantissimo is a man disguised as a Pianta that the player must race in Super Mario Sunshine. He's very fast. He plays a role similar to that of Koopa the Quick, who appears in Super Mario 64.

If you beat the game without all the Shine Sprites, the ending screen will show Il Piantissimo looking at the paint brush Bowser Jr. used. This alludes to the possibility that he took it, but the game never mentions anything about it after this.
