The Poltergust 5000 is the name of the vacuum that Luigi uses in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. It is an updated version of the Poltergust 3000 from the first game. It is also created by Professor Elvin Gadd, which he abandoned inside Gloomy Manor when the Ghosts of Evershade Valley became hostile. So Luigi goes inside the mansion to retrieve the vacuum found at the Garage inside of a vehicle's hood. Like the first game, Luigi can use to Poltergust 5000 suck up ghosts and objects (by pressing R Button)and blow. Throughout his quest, Luigi will encounter various tools to make the vacuum's power greater by collecting treasure in the mansions. In the game, not much like the first game, Luigi has to charge up the Strobulb to stun the ghosts before capturing them.

The Poltergust 5000 (and possibly the 3000 model too) can only suck in 3 ghosts at a time, any other ghosts stunned with the Strobulb stay stunned until you stop sucking up at least one and switch to the other one

Special Abilities

  • If you look closely, the Flashlight and the Poltergust 5000 are one , turning into the other one when needed to.
  • Unlike the Poltergust 3000, after a little while of sucking up the ghost (while pushing the control stick the opposite way of the ghost) one can press A Button to make a power surge.
  • Power surges get stronger as you upgrade, a blue surge takes 10 HP from the ghost, a green surge takes 20, and a red surge takes 50.
  • By collecting 20,000 G, one can unlock the Super Poltergust, which fills the power bar faster and drains the ghost's HP faster
