Fortune Teller is the thirty-sixth live-action segment of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!. Its corresponding animated episode is "Koopa Klaus".
Plot Synopsis
Mario and Luigi discover that Brian Bonsall (from the show Family Ties) ran away from home, because he felt unappreciated. Mario and Luigi sit him down to talk about the serious decision.
Mario tries to convince Brian not to run away, sharing with him the story of how he ran away when he was younger. He flashes back to a scene in which Mario and Luigi are young kids arguing over who reached their room first. Mario's mother yells at the two for fighting, but only punishes Mario, since he is older and should have known better. Mario is sentenced to peeling garlic. Mario, upset, decides to run away, taking with him only a stuffed animal.
However, Mario soon realizes that he regrets running away. He returns home to find Luigi and his mother sitting on the couch, eating popcorn, discussing the pros of having Mario gone. Mario runs up and hugs his mother, asking her if she even missed him. Mario's mother responds that she never missed his feuds with Luigi, his messy room, or his backsass. But she did miss Mario. They share a family hug. Then Mario's mother slaps Mario for running away.
Back in the present, Brian seems to have gotten the message: You shouldn't run away, because your family would enjoy it too much. He decides to go back home, "before all the popcorn's gone!" Mario and Luigi relax, convinced that they have lead Brian back on the right path.
