This IS the true title, I've heard it somewhere in a Mario source...
- I checked the manuals of the games mentioned in the article; SMB3 and SMW refer to it as "Sliding Down A Slope", and NSMB simply calls it "Slide". Just wanted to note that. Time Questions 12:21, 15 February 2008 (EST)
Rename to Slide?
The vast majority of guides and instruction manuals that I've read call this move the "slide", so...rename? (T|C) 12:40, 12 November 2018 (EST)
Rename to Slide
Template:SettledTPP Template:ProposalOutcome This is in light of a comment I made directly above that garnered no attention whatsoever.
So...where exactly did "Slope Slide" come from? I don't think it's an official name at all. In fact, we should probably just name this article "Slide" anyways, since it's called that in the New Super Mario Bros. and New Super Mario Bros. Wii instruction booklets, as well as the New Super Mario Bros. 2 Prima guide.

- Bazooka Mario (talk) "Slide" already implies uneven ground, so "slope" is redundant.

How about the distinct belly slide from SM64 and especially Sunshine? Should that be merged? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 10:46, 28 November 2018 (EST)
- No, Dive is something different. 12:33, 28 November 2018 (EST)
- In Sunshine, though, a continued dive (particularly through water) turns into a distinct slide; it also occurs independently of dives in SM64, if a slope is too steep to walk up. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:58, 28 November 2018 (EST)
- It seems to me that in this case, the dive is the actual move, and the slide is merely a result of the move being executed. -- Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 17:27, 30 November 2018 (EST)
- That ignores the second part of what I said though. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:46, 5 December 2018 (EST)

I looked over material that I have and can find, this is what I found:
- Super Mario Bros. 3 manual: "Sliding down a slope"
- Super Mario Advance 4 guide: "Slide"
- New Super Mario Bros. manual: "Slide"
- New Super Mario Bros. guide: "Incline Slide" (this one is close)
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii manual: "Slide"
- New Super Mario Bros. U manual: "Slide"
Not finding the term "Slope Slide" anywhere. 12:33, 28 November 2018 (EST)
- New Super Mario Bros. 2 manual: "Slide"
- Although, it does mention that it can only be done when holding down on a slope. Yoshi the SSM (talk) 13:06, 28 November 2018 (EST)
- Also:
- New Super Mario Bros. manual: "Slide"
- Which was what I mentioned above. (T|C) 14:16, 28 November 2018 (EST)
- I included that one :P 14:21, 28 November 2018 (EST)
- Should we add citation needed on Slope Slide? -- FanOfYoshi 01:28, 5 December 2018 (EST)
- There's a move template on the page already, which tells readers the article name has not been found, so {{ref needed}} is redundant. But the name could still be found between now and December 11th. 01:30, 5 December 2018 (EST)
- Super Mario World manual: Sliding down a Slope. No i don't own the guide, but found some scans http://www.gamesdatabase.org/Media/SYSTEM/Nintendo_SNES/manual/Formated/Super_Mario_World_-_1991_-_Nintendo.pdf if it show up for you. -- FanOfYoshi 02:51, 5 December 2018 (EST)

The name Slope Slide is from the notebook in Super Mario Run, as you can see here. Should the page be re-renamed, as the reason that the page was renamed slide was because it was thought that Slope Slide is unofficial, even though it is official. Doomhiker (talk) 10:16, 28 December 2018 (EST)
