Crocodile Cauldron is the volcanic mountain range of Crocodile Isle and the second world of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. It has Kleever as the world boss. In Donkey Kong Land 2, Crocodile Cauldron does not appear as a standalone world and was combined with Krem Quay to form the world Krem Cauldron.
Crocodile Cauldron has several rivers of lava, large pitfalls, and a prominent stratovolcano at the top. The world appears to be encased in a cave carved in the shape of a giant Kremling skull, which has glowing, red eyes, and steam coming out from the nostrils. Aside from volcanic areas, Crocodile Cauldron features a few mine shafts, which the Kremling Krew would excavate gems and minerals from.[citation needed] There is also a large, broken galleon which is partially submerged in the lava. Water also seems to flow through Crocodile Cauldron, or there is at least a large deposit of it underground, as the ship remains are flooded with it. Three levels take place at a volcanic area (one of which is the boss battle), two levels take place in mine shafts, and one level takes place in the broken galleon. The Game Boy Advance version of the map, notably, has more solid ground that can be traversed.
In the ending, Crocodile Cauldron and the rest of Crocodile Isle sinks into the ocean.
According to the Player's Guide, the lava pools from Crocodile Cauldron are the Kremlings' source of heat and power in Crocodile Isle.[1]
Levels
Level | Description | Enemies | Animal Friends |
---|---|---|---|
Hot-Head Hop |
The first level of Crocodile Cauldron. The level takes place inside a volcano, and the Kongs must use Krockheads as stepping stones in order to cross rivers of lava. This level also marks Squitter's first appearance, and he proves himself useful for reaching and completing bonus areas, as well as the DK Coin. Klampons first appear in this level. | Neek Klobber Krockhead Klampon Zinger Kruncha |
Squitter |
Kannon's Klaim |
The second level of Crocodile Cauldron, and the first level to take place inside a mine shaft. The featured enemies here are none other than Kannons, who will be a persistent threat throughout the level. Mini-Neckies also return from the original Donkey Kong Country. The mine is also home to several Neeks, Krunchas, Flitters, and Klomps. | Neek Kannon Kruncha Klomp Zinger Flitter Mini-Necky |

Lava Lagoon |
This level takes place in the cargo hold of a crashed Kremling galleon. Although it is flooded with water, the heat from the surrounding volcanoes causes the water to be boiling hot. Fortunately, Clapper the Seal is around to cool down the water to a survivable temperature for the Kongs. This is only temporary, as the water soon reverts back to hot lava. | Neek Klampom Flotsam Lockjaw Kaboing Puftup Click-Clack Klobber |

Red-Hot Ride |
This level takes place within a volcano, but unlike in Hot-Head Hop, solid ground is hard to come by. The Kongs must cross the lakes of lava by riding atop hot-air balloons, which are exclusive to this level. The Kongs must be careful, as the balloons will slowly descend into the lava unless they are on top of the thermals found throughout the level. Rambi also appears throughout the first half of the level. | Klobber Kruncha Zinger Flitter Neek Klomp (bonus game) |

Squawks's Shaft |
As its title implies, Squawks's Shaft takes place inside a mine shaft, and Squawks appears in the second half. Krooks first appear in this level. | Krook Klomp Zinger Klampon Mini-Necky Kannon |

Boss level: Kleever's Kiln |
Diddy and Dixie face off against the world boss, Kleever. Kleever uses fireball projectiles and slashing attacks to harm the Kongs. They must evade his attacks and utilize Kannonballs to damage the giant sword. | None | None |
