"Step by Step" is a playable song in Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix. It is an arrangement of the theme heard in the bonus game area, Switch Palaces, and 1-Up Chambers in Super Mario World.
In Story Mode EX, the song is stage 2-3, In the Whirlpool EX, replacing the song "In the Whirlpool." Like in its counterpart, the song's background features Mario or Luigi piloting the SS Brass through a whirlpool underwater with the help of the Boogie Booster. However, the surrounding water is darker, and the interior shots of the SS Brass show it shaking occasionally.
In Mush Mode, this song's only gimmick is Spinies, mines that explode when stepped on, damaging the dance meter significantly. While green Spinies move at a regular speed, red Spinies move quickly.
