The others each have a certain trick to avoid it (Fire Mario, though, can incinerate them, segment by segment.), e.g. a block that grows taller when you hit it, but goes back to normal if you leave it too long (In this scenario, the aforementioned Spiny is the real annoyance. After them there is another pokey on a lift going up above [[quicksand]], this guards the second star coin. Next there is a 9 segment Pokey (largest one in the level) that once jumped over you get the [[Midway Point]]. After that all the pokeys are on platforms and lifts. There is a mini pipe area for [[Mini Mario]] that has a coin maze with a 8-bit Mario and Luigi in the background. Then there is one more pokey and then a pipe leading to the [[flagpole]] (and one Pokey).
There are quicksand/pits next, making it hard to evade the Pokeys. The [[Star Coins]] here are relatively easy to get.

In the next part of the level, the Pokeys appear on lifts that go up and down over pits. You need good timing, and on the level segment with two sets of lifts before the Pokey itself, do not stay too long on either set. Soon after this, you are rewarded with the flagpole.
