Latest appearance Donkey Kong Country for Game Boy Advance (2003)

Vine Barrels[1] are a flimsy counterpart to standard barrels in Donkey Kong Country and its Game Boy Advance remake. These barrels do not have steel hoops, but rather have small green vines wrapped around them. Their only difference from regular barrels is that they break upon hitting the ground or an enemy. Vine Barrels are prominently used in Bumble B. Rumble, during the boss fight against Queen B., and also appear throughout the final level, Platform Perils, as objects the Kongs must use to hit the gray Krushas off their platforms. Vine Barrels do not appear in the Game Boy Color because normal barrels are given their properties. In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Vine Barrels are functionally replaced by crates.
