Plot synopsis

At a carnival, a mother, Mrs. Johnson, leaves her daughter, Patty, to Donkey Kong Jr. and Bones, who plan to use the babysitting money to get back on Donkey Kong's trail. Patty promptly drags them off to the carnival.

At a pin toss booth, Patty is fascinated by the prizes on display. Bones claims the game will be easy, saying it is "right up [his] alley," though when he actually plays, the baseball misses the pins and bounces off the curtain behind them before landing into his mouth. At this moment, two thieves, Harry and Walt, steal the money from a ticket booth as two police officers, one named Charlie, give chase. After hiding in the same booth Donkey Kong Jr., Bones, and Patty are playing at, they decided to stash their stolen loot in one of the teddy bears on display.

Bones attempts the game again, but accidentally throws the ball at the booth operator's head, knocking him to the ground. He then gives the ball to Donkey Kong Jr., who manages to knock over all the pins in one attempt. The ball then bounces off the curtain and hits a high striker game, before landing in a jug in a bottle toss booth, resulting in Jr. winning every prize at the carnival. Patty then asks for the same teddy bear the thieves stashed their loot in. After peeking out from behind the stand, the thieves spot Patty with the teddy and promptly snatch it from her, Jr. and Bones giving chase on an ice cream cart as they ride a roller coaster.

As Jr. and Bones transverse a loop, the former drops ice cream on the thieves, blinding them. On an incline, he manages to retrieve the teddy bear, but his and Bones's bicycle splits in two, prompting the former to save the latter as he rolls away. Bones falls while upside-down in the loop, but Jr. catches him with the ice cream cart. Harry and Walt, having reached the end of the ride, remove the ice cream containers from their heads and promptly kidnap Patty, using her to bribe Jr. and Bones to return the teddy bear in exchange for her release at the House of Horrors.

After exiting the roller coaster, Jr. and Bones discover that Patty's teddy bear is stashed with the thieves' money. At that moment, the same police officers from before spot them and give chase as Jr. and Bones hide in a tent for a magic show. Jr. attempts to throw the police officers off their trail by disguising himself as a magician, but they still decide to enter the tent. Bones, in a effort to prove his innocence, performs a long ribbon trick, but when he flubs it, the officers believe him to be a fake. He then attempts to pull a rabbit out of his hat, but ends up pulling out the teddy bear, resulting in the officers giving chase. However, Jr. brings out two boxes for their "disappearing act" and traps the officers inside.

At the House of Horrors, Bones carries Jr., who is disguised as the teddy bear. As they enter the house, Bones is frightened when a ominous voice introduces the attraction, but attempts to calm himself as they walk through the house, saying the figures are only "wax dummies." However, as he passes by them, two of them, Harry and Walt in disguise, begin to follow him. When one of the dummies steps on a soda can, Bones becomes suspicious, but dismisses this as being "[his] imagination." As he continues walking, he bumps into them and becomes frightened again before running away. However, when the two dummies ask for the "teddy bear," Bones tosses it to them, only to fall over a set of dummies as Jr. is about to throw a net over the criminals. The criminals are exposed, but capture Jr. in a net and run off with the money. Bone attempts to perform "Monkey Muscle!" as instructed by Jr., but fails the backflip, allowing Harry and Walt to escape. Jr., having removed the net trapping him, decides to catch the thieves while Bones frees Patty.

Jr. chases the criminals to a watermelon cart, which they tip over in attempt to stop Jr. However, after jumping over some of the watermelons, he uses a sign to bat the watermelons back to the criminals. Two land on their heads, while one causes them to slip onto a dunk tank. Jr. then bats another watermelon that hits the tank's target, dropping the criminals into the water. When Bones and Patty arrive, a booth vendor gives the latter a new teddy bear. After Jr. directs the police officers to the dunk tank, Mrs. Johnson returns to pick her daughter up. Patty explains what happened at the carnival, but she does not believe her, dismissing it as "[her] imagination." She then asks for Bones and Jr. to babysit her again so she could ride Humongous, a roller coaster at the carnival, but they decline, saying they need to find Donkey Kong first.
