The Melty Molten Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy, and the last galaxy to be unlocked in a dome. It is quite a large galaxy, made completely of lava and rock, and is situated between two stars, a red one and a light purple one. There's many Launch Stars here, allowing Mario to traverse the massive planet. There are also some small planetoids around it.
Planets/Areas
Lava Planet, Starting Area
This area is a large disk of lava connected to the main planet. It contains a small volcano with two large platforms on either side of it. Both have various obstacles and eneimes. Small steel platforms make a path between the two platforms. the two platforms. The volcano has a switch inside that makes the lava rise.
Small Glass and Lava Planets
These are a collection of six small lava planets and three small glass planets . Mario must navigate his way through these planets via pull stars avoiding solar archs that will knock him off the pull star path and take him into their gravity fields causing Mario to bounce across the lava surface.
Lava Planet, Forming Planets
These are two forming planets made of magma and cooled lava. They are home to several Burn Bits. Beside them lies a crashed saucer that serves as a starting platform. Strangly, these planets have their own gravity even though they are embedded in the main planet's surface.
Lava Planet, Lava Spire
The lava spire is a large rock formation surrounded by other large rock formations that are intertwined. The spire is also home to several Burn bits. On top of the spire a power star is incased in a large ice crystal that Mario must get to. The only problem is that when Mario first steps on the spire it begins to sink and now Mario must run up the spire or be engulfed by the lava. There is a shortcut at the beginning of the sipe that leads Mario halfway up the spire and gets him a 1-up mushroom. For some reason halfway up the spire it stops sinking until Mario hits a switch that lets him continue.
Stone Octagon Planet
This planet is a large stone octagon that is covered by three thwomps. The core of this planet is a black hole that Mario must avoid. There is also a 1-up mushroom under the third thwomp.
Tower Planet
This planet is a large U-shaped planet of cooled magma with stone built onto it to make it like a tower from a castle. Its inside is made entirely of hot magma. You can see evidence of this in the crook of the U where it is still forming. On one end there is a launch star and on the other end there is a double-sided bullet bill cannon.
Lava Planet, Colled Lava Area
This is a small network of colled lava platforms that is home to several blue podoboos. Mario must find five yellow star chips to continue. There also a life mushroom here.
Lava Golf Course Area
This is the second time in the game that Mario must roll a glass ball to the end of the area to recieve a power star. This area is made up of many lava panels, four stone panels, and a humoungus tunnel of lava. There is two 1-up mushrooms at the beginnging one on the left and one on the right.
Lava Planet, Steel Platform Area
This is a small area with many steel platforms and sling stars. Mario must use the sling stars the avoid falling into the lava and to dodge the lava spouts. At the end of this area there is a Luma Shop.
Disk Planet
This is a small disk with a spherical lava core. It has several platforms that rotate around the core that Mario must ride and collect five yellow star chips to continue.
Lava Geo Planet
This planet is home to Fiery Dino Pirahna when Mario first arrives he lands on Fiery Dino Pirahna egg and cracks it. Then he must fully break Fiery Dino Pirahna out of his egg by hitting his tail. Then he must battle him the same way he did Dino Pirahna to get the power star.
Lava Tide Planet
This is a small rock planet with a sea of lava around it. The lava has a tide that when at low tide reveal a network of paths but at high tide cover them with lava. The only ground safe from lava are grey the red ground can be covered by lava. Mario must scuttle across this planet avioding high tide and Burn bits to retrieve five silver stars and get the power star.
Missions
The Sinking Lava Spire
Mario starts out in the fire cauldron area, which he has to cross completely and get to the Launch Star at the top of the volcano. Mario can let himself fall into the volcano at this point, where he can get many Star Bits. As Mario leaves the volcano, it erupts. On little sphere capsules in the sky over the lava planet Mario meets a Hungry Luma. He has to use Pull Stars to get around miniature suns on his way through the sky. He then returns to the planet and has to search Star Chips to get to the Lava Spire, a mountain which begins to sink. Mario then must get to the top of the mountain quickly and smash the crystal to gain the Power Star.
Through the Meteor Storm
In this mission, meteors are constantly falling from the sky. Mario must constantly avoid them or they will burn Mario. Near the end of the mission, a part similar to Rolling Green Galaxy must be completed where Mario must ride a Star Ball to the end of a lava covered course. Once Mario is at the end of the course, the Star Ball will break, giving Mario the Power Star.
Fiery Dino Piranha
In this level, Mario must battle a fiery version of the first boss, Dino Piranha. The fiery version is faster, and Mario is only able to hit its tail when it is not on fire, which gets increasingly difficult because the flame goes out quicker and makes a flaming trail after a couple of hits.
Lava Spire Daredevil Run
This is the comet mission for Melty Molten Galaxy. Unlike most though, Mario does not fight a boss in this mission but must complete the entire "The Sinking Lava Spire" mission under the Daredevil Comet rules.
Red-Hot Purple Coins
Mario must collect 100 Purple Coins on the main planet. There is no time limit.
Burning Tide
Mario must feed a Hungry Luma eighty Star Bits to get to a new planet where there are five Silver Stars he must collect. The islands on the planet are sinking and the player must stay in the higher areas until the lava level lowers and it's safe to walk to the next part. Then, once Mario has gotten all five Silver Stars, they transform into a Power Star. This star is located in a lower area of ground, so Mario must wait until it is safe to grab the Star.
