Gameplay

After foregoing the classic battle system in favor of a platformer-style one in Super Paper Mario, Paper Mario 3DS returns to the turn-based system from the first two installments. A screenshot shows Mario's original Jump and Hammer commands, with a redesigned layout for the system's touch screen. Partners also return after being replaced by the Pixls, with screenshots showing a new Chain Chomp at Mario's aid. Several screenshots also show outlined objects being dropped in place, suggesting that players have to move certain objects around the screen to solve puzzles.
